🇳🇵💔 CATASTROPHIC FLOOD DISASTER IN NEPAL 26 AUGUST 2026 🤝🇳🇵
🚨 EMERGENCY RESPONSE & RESCUE APPEAL 🚨
SCI Nepal Bhaktapur Stands with the Victims of the Flood Disaster
26 August 2026 will be remembered as a tragic day for Nepal. The devastating flood disaster in the northern region of Nepal has caused enormous human suffering, destruction, and uncertainty. Many people are still missing, while families across the country are desperately waiting for news about their loved ones.
The disaster has severely affected areas along the Trishuli River and Bhotekoshi Rivers and and surrounding regions of Rasuwa District, where powerful floodwaters have caused serious damage to roads, bridges, settlements, and important infrastructure, including hydropower projects. The dangerous flooding has also affected people travelling through the region, including those on religious journeys and pilgrimages towards the sacred Kailash Mansarovar and Gosainkunda Lake. Many people have lost contact with their families, while rescue and search operations remain extremely challenging due to damaged infrastructure, difficult access, communication problems, and the continuing danger in the affected areas.
💔 Our SCI Nepal Bhaktapur Family Is Also Deeply Affected
We are deeply saddened to share that some relatives of SCI Nepal Bhaktapur volunteers are currently missing following this devastating flood disaster. They were connected with internship and engineering work at the Upper Trishuli Hydropower Project.
In addition, several people from the Bhaktapur community who had travelled towards the affected region for a religious pilgrimage to the sacred Kailash Mansarovar and Gosainkunda Lake area have also lost contact with their families.
At this painful and difficult time, our thoughts, prayers, and solidarity are with every missing person, their families, and all communities affected by this national tragedy.
