Tripartite MOU Signing Ceremony

A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Budhanilkantha Municipality, Changunarayan Foundation (CNF), and K.D. Shoes Industries Pvt. Ltd. (Caliber Shoes) to launch a professional Shoe Making On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program.

The six-month OJT program aims to provide participants with practical, industry-based skills and a pathway to sustainable employment. All selected participants will receive a stipend equivalent to the minimum wage prescribed by the Government of Nepal, providing financial motivation and support throughout the training period.

The program will be implemented through equal financial contributions from CNF and K.D. Shoes Industries Pvt. Ltd. ,while the municipality will support the identification and mobilization of eligible local participants.

Most importantly, participants who successfully complete the six-month OJT program will be provided job placement opportunities within K.D. Shoes Industries Pvt. Ltd., creating a direct bridge from skills training to employment.

This partnership represents a practical model of government–civil society–private sector collaboration , focused not only on training but on ensuring that skills lead to **decent work, income generation, and long-term career opportunities.

Kageshwori Manohara Municipality and Changunarayan Foundation Sign Agreement to Connect Local Youth with Jobs Through OJT

Kageshwori Manohara Municipality and Changunarayan Foundation have signed an agreement to provide local youth with vocational skills and On-the-Job Training (OJT), with the objective of connecting them directly with employment opportunities.

Under the agreement signed at the municipality on Monday, at least 100 young people will be provided with additional skill-based training and linked to employment opportunities in the first phase .The municipality will identify suitable trainees from its existing and upcoming basic skills training programs. The selected trainees will then receive further professional training and practical OJT opportunities through the Foundation in coordination with employers from relevant sectors.

The program will cover areas including hospitality, ECD/Montessori, information technology (IT), retail chains, agricultural technology and applications, automobiles and vehicle-related services, electrical equipment and electronics, and security services,among others.

The main objective of the program is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained through basic skills training and practical workplace experience, thereby producing job-ready human resources. The initiative also aims to expand employment and self-employment opportunities by developing skilled workers according to the demands of the local labor market.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Mayor Upendra Karki said the program would be effective in helping young people who possess academic qualifications but lack practical experience enter the labor market with both skills and workplace exposure. He emphasized that partnerships with the private sector are essential to reduce the gap between employers seeking skilled workers and young people looking for employment.
Karki praised the Foundation's initiative to contribute to the country after achieving success in the IT business in Australia and said the program could be developed as a model initiative. He expressed the belief that, if successful, other local governments could learn from the model and replicate similar programs.
“OJT can serve as a bridge between young people who have academic qualifications but lack practical experience and employers who are looking for skilled and experienced Human Resources.
The municipality and the Foundation aim to expand the partnership over the long term and develop it as a model program that can be replicated by other local governments.
Deputy Mayor Shanta ThapaChief Administrative Officer Purushottam Subedi,and other municipal officials and representatives of the Foundation were present at the agreement-signing ceremony.
