Animation Volda will live in the spirit of animation for a long weekend every year, shown through a unique program for you, your friends and your family. The mission of the Animation Volda Festival is to provide entertainment, educational opportunities, programs and events that enrich the culture of Volda community, presenting our town as an international animated film destination.

Our next and last guest speaker is: Jan-Erik Maas!🪐✨
He is a character animator, animation director and storyboard artist currently based in Portland Oregon. His main focus for many years has been feature film stop-motion animation, most recently as a lead-animator on “Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio”, which won the Animated Feature Academy Award in 2022, and for many years working at LAIKA, animating on films such as Missing Link (2019), Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) and Coraline (2009).🚀

Our next guest speaker is Curie Lu!✨🪐
She is a Chinese-American animator working as a freelancer in Japanese and Western animation. After withdrawing from California Institute of the Arts two years ago, she has since worked for studios such as Mappa, Netflix, Wit, Powerhouse, Grackle, and more. In her free time, she works on her personal short film "Yaoguai"!🚀

Time to introduce this year’s guest speakers:☄️✨
First out is Kajsa Næss! She is educated at the animation department at Volda University College. Her first feature film was the animated family film Titina from 2022 about Roald Amundsen and Umberto Nobile's journey across the North Pole with the airship "Norge". The film won numerous awards! Welcome to the ship!🚀
