NepaliMed Norway is a Norwegian membership organization, with its roots in the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim, Norway. Since 2008, NTNU has cooperated with Dhulikhel Hospital which is a teaching hospital at Kathmandu University. Dhulikel Hospital is a unique hospital in Nepal, based on a philosophy to give high quality treatment to the poor. The hospital is non-governmental and non-profit, and patients only pay what they are able to. Because of this, Dhulikhel Hospital depends on international aid and funding. The cooperation between NTNU and Dhulikhel Hospital has so far focused on medical training, teaching and research. NepaliMed Norway seeks to extend the cooperation from medical training to also include help with financial aid and fundraising, to help secure Dhulikhel Hospitals further growth and sustainability.
