Inuit Nunaat Fund Our approach reflects the same values we fund: trust, reciprocity, and respect.

The Inuit Nunaat Fund is an Indigenous-led initiative dedicated to supporting Inuit self-determination, bold dreaming, community-led solutions, and thriving futures across Inuit Nunaat. The INF creates impact by reducing barriers, trusting local leadership, and investing directly in community-led priorities such as language, land, and well-being.

Nine Fellows from across Inuit Nunaat will be selected to explore and deepen their knowledge in their chosen fields together over eighteen months.

Through regular online communication and two in-person international gatherings, our Fellows will re-establish Inuit connections and strengthen communities throughout our regions.

We are happy to introduce and highlight our community partner, the Yukon River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission. Committed to protecting the health of the Yukon River and its fish populations, this Commission was built by Tribal Governments and First Nations situated along the far flowing river in both Alaska, USA and Yukon, Canada. The Commission has always recognized that unity, shared values, and traditional stewardship protocols are foundational to achieving Indigenous food sovereignty and self-governance.

As a consortium of many different tribes and nations, they’ve been able to build meaningful relationships to form a collective voice. They know that the Yukon River binds and nourishes many Inuit, Athabascan, and First Nation peoples, and that when the salmon and other fish are taken care of, all can benefit.

Partnering with Ilitaqsiniq to support their Pilimmaksaijuliriniq Workshop in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut and the community members who empower our communities is a great honor. The front-line cultural programming that workshop participants lead is invaluable and transformational. The Elder-guided teachings and wellness practices learned at this workshop will be taken home by participants to incorporate and ensure Inuit can continue serving Inuit with care. Inuit Nunaat Fund is proud to uplift community partners like Ilitaqsiniq who are already doing meaningful work on both an individual and community level.

We hope you all travel home replenished and feel the gratitude we have for everything you do for Inuit across Inuit Nunaat! 💚

INF congratulates community partner, Ittaq Heritage & Research Centre, on hosting an amazing hunters’ learning & knowledge exchange in Qaqortoq, Kalaallit Nunaat 🇬🇱. The exchange brought together skilled hunters from across Inuit Nunaat to discuss hunting as an economic base, food security source, and form of maintaining environmental stewardship.

This exchange is a natural extension from Angunasuktiit, one of Ittaq Heritage & Research Centre’s land-based programs. Angunasuktiit is a full-time hunter-instructor group in Kangiqtugaapik, Nunavut that hunts for the community and teaches local youth the skills required to safely practice traditional Inuit livelihoods.

Wishing you safe travels and a plentiful fall harvesting season! 💛
