Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations The Alliance, founded in 1982, is presently made up of full, associate and candidate members from all over the world.

The Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations is an International Non-Governmental Youth Organisation (INGYO), founded in 1982 to promote intercultural education, global understanding and peace through International Voluntary Service 🕊️ The Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations is an International Non-Governmental Youth Organisation that represents national organisations which promote intercultural education, understanding and peace through voluntary service. Each member organisation runs an annual programme of International Volunteer Projects in their own country and exchanges volunteers with each other to create an international group of volunteer workers on each project. International Volunteer Projects

International Volunteer Projects are organised by Alliance members either on a national or regional basis but always in partnership with local communities. They engage the volunteer groups in a wide diversity of community development tasks including environmental, construction, renovation, social, cultural and archaeological work. Amongst Alliance members there are many examples of projects which have pioneered new working methods and produced dynamic results. The projects generally last 2 - 3 weeks and consist of about 10 - 20 volunteers drawn from a number of countries. Projects are often in remote areas, in regions where local people may have minimal opportunity for meeting others from different countries. The volunteer groups bring new ideas and experiences into communities, providing a stimulus for ongoing work. The individual volunteers benefit from the interaction both within the group and with the local communities. The experience gives them the opportunity to travel to another country, use their time productively and make a positive contribution to the local community. They also have the chance to widen their horizons through meeting and learning from each other and local people. Members

International Volunteer Projects are organized in each country by a national Alliance member, which also recruits volunteers within that country. All Alliance members place only individuals residing in their own country on projects. Interested volunteers should therefore only contact their national Alliance member! The members also work closely with similar national and international organisations in Europe and worldwide.

💭 What does it mean to be an active citizen?

It means refusing to be a spectator, showing up, speaking out and working together to create change.

It means caring about what happens in your community, standing up for what you believe in and taking action alongside others.

Whether it's marching for climate justice, engaging with decision-makers or building collective solutions, every action matters.

This week in Brussels, we'll put active citizenship into practice: in the streets, in discussions, and in dialogue with European institutions.

Because climate justice needs more than promises. It needs people willing to get involved.

There is no climate justice without social justice ✊

Our experiences of the climate crisis are shaped by different aspects of who we are and the inequalities we face. Our struggles are connected. Our fights can be too.

This is where intersectionality comes in: understanding how forms of inequality overlap and shape people's lives.

As part of our "Volunteering Resilience for Climate Justice" joint campaign, today we're exploring the concept of Intersectionality and how understanding these connections can help us challenge the inequalities that shape both our societies and the climate crisis.

Because justice cannot be separated into boxes. Struggles intersect, and collective action can bring them together.

💬 What would climate action look like if everyone in your community had a voice?

Last week, we came together at Le Créneau 🏰 for our September Joint Meeting.

We reflected on the work and achievements of the past year and discussed the future direction of our network.

We evaluated the actions, projects and events carried out in 2026, and worked together on the Plan of Action 2027 ahead of the upcoming General Assembly.

We also strengthened our Teams, Necessary Action Groups (NAGs) and Communities of Interests (COIs), developed our partnerships and working relationships - both as youth workers and as a network - and, of course, made time to connect, share, laugh and have fun ✨

A big thank you to everyone who made this meeting such a special and inspiring moment for our network, and especially to Solidarités Jeunesses for their warm welcome, generous hospitality, and for making us feel so at home.

💙
