We are happy to share that Pål Isdahl Solberg, Chair and founder of Medvirkningsagentene, has been elected Vice President of POYWE – Professional Open Youth Work in Europe.

Pål will represent Ungdom og Fritid in this role. POYWE is an organisation he knows well, and its work is closely connected to many of the things Medvirkningsagentene cares about: participation, open youth work, non-formal learning, and meaningful spaces for young people.

This also strengthens our connection to the European youth work field, and gives us new opportunities to learn, share experiences and build relationships across countries.

Congratulations to Pål — we look forward to following the work in POYWE in the time ahead.

Say hello and welcome to POYWE's new President Tanja Herceg, and Vice President Pål Isdahl Solberg!

Get to know Tanja and Pål a little better:

Tanja:
My work has always been driven by one belief: that open youth work is one of the most powerful tools we have to create equal opportunities.

For 17 years I have led Association Impress in Croatia, building youth work from the ground up while shaping European youth policy from the inside. I have worked as a practitioner, trainer, researcher, pan-European organisational leader, UN Youth Delegate, and policy advisor. That diversity of experience is not just part of my background. It is how I think and how I connect dots.

As the new President of POYWE, I want our network to be a space where practice, research and policy actually talk to each other. Not in parallel, but in real dialogue. Youth work deserves more than recognition. It deserves infrastructure, standards, and a seat at every table where decisions about young people are made.

I am honoured to serve as President and look forward to what we will achieve together.

Pål:
I bring more than 20 years of experience from open youth work, organisational leadership, international cooperation, education and research. My key strengths are building bridges between grassroots practice, professional development and knowledge-building, and helping strengthen the language we use to describe youth work as a distinct field of practice.

For me, POYWE is important because it connects people who are committed to developing and strengthening open youth work across Europe. It gives us a shared space to learn from grassroots practice, build professional knowledge, and further develop youth work as a recognised and meaningful field.

The association “Creative Minds for Culture,” in collaboration with “Medvirkningsagentene” (Norway), will organize a study visit to Latvia in May as part of the CREATE project.

The study visit will last 3 days (+2 travel days) from May 11, 2026, to May 15, 2026, in Latvia, Riga, and its surrounding areas. During the visit, youth workers will have the opportunity to explore approaches and methods in youth work related to creative methods for engaging young people in social processes, encouraging them to choose careers aligned with their interests, and maintaining well-being through a work-life balance.

Learn more about the visit here: https://ej.uz/lv-info-create

The activity takes place within the framework of the Erasmus+ small-scale partnership project CREATE (Creative Resources for Engaging Adolescents into Tangible Excitement).

The project’s objectives are:
- To work toward raising public awareness that mental health and well-being are essential aspects of young people’s career choices and needs;
- To equip young people with the tools and skills so that, when choosing a career path, they can act in accordance with their passions and interests;
- Promote creative expression as a viable career choice and combat the most common stereotypes regarding career choices in the creative industries.

Erasmus+ prosjekt:
Trends of Youth Work

Mål for workshopen:

We just came back from an amazing trip to Hamar!

Young people from Creative Minds for Culture in Latvia, Medvirkningsagentene in Norway, Jakan Cirkus in Sweden, and Kultūristai in Kaunas came together this month in Hamar, Norway, for the Erasmus+ youth exchange “Celebrate”.

Throughout the exchange, participants explored community building and learned about tools such as volunteering and different forms of cultural expression that can help strengthen local communities.

In cooperation with Anno Museum Domkirkeodden and Hamar Middelalderfestival we had a amazing time, building strong bonds with eachother and with the past!
