How can everyday encounters, observations, and coincidences become art, books, and stories?
Welcome to a personal talk by Maki Suzuki – designer and one quarter of the London-based design and art collective Åbäke, together with Patrick Lacey, Benjamin Reichen, and Kajsa Ståhl.
Founded in 2000, Åbäke is known for its conceptual and exploratory approach to design, with collaboration, relationships, and the social dimensions of visual communication at its core. Their work spans publications and exhibitions, as well as architecture and teaching.
During this talk, Maki will share his own creative process and explore how encounters with people, places, and situations can develop into new visual narratives.
Maki is currently working on the design for an exhibition by sound artist Yuri Suzuki, which will open at Stavanger Art Museum in 2027.
