The why
The idea of creating this project comes from my own experience as a female immigrant entrepreneur. Through my journey I found out differences between men and women during the establishment of my company. I observed the under representation of women in most areas. But I was focused on my goal. I received grants and support, I was doing research while at some point I found myself lost and I almost gave up my dream until I realized that the system did not work for me. In the meantime, other women approached me and asked me for advice while struggling trying to find out information or support to start a company, or keep running their already established ones. This is where I saw that I wasn’t the only one. I looked at the statistics and I surprisingly found out that only 20% of women in Norway established a limited company in 2017.
So why are women not creating new companies? Is it lack of ambition? No, not at all... Lack of access to capital and information really influences the way we build a business. While immigrant women are a sector that get less funding or capital, it changes the dynamic of building a solid business. We believe that most women are talented and creative. We see immigrant women as an opportunity: They bring a new perspective to create more sustainable, socially responsible and innovative business that can create a great impact on our society and economy.
