Why don’t you move to the United States?” 🇺🇸
I blinked. Slowly.
“I live in Norway.” 🇳🇴
Why would I… downgrade? 😭
Here, I enjoy:
Free healthcare 🏥 (I don’t need a GoFundMe subscription to stay alive)
Free education 🎓 (no 30-year student loan character arc)
One full year of paternity leave 👶 (yes, dads are allowed to parent)
Police who don’t treat civilians like a side mission 🎮
Schools without active shooter drills 😬
And the wild privilege of arguing about snow, bread, and cheese prices instead of my life expectancy
In America, this is called socialism.
In Norway, it’s called Tuesday.
So yeah — I’ll stay right here.
Paying high taxes, trusting the system, walking outside at night,
and living my soft, peaceful Scandinavian life. 😌❄️
No hate. Just vibes.

Gratulerer Norge, vi skal til VM! 🚀🎊🏆❤️🇳🇴
The very first time I ever heard about Norway was during the 1998 World Cup. Back then, tiny me was absolutely convinced I was destined to become a world-class footballer, so naturally I watched every single match like it was homework for my future career.

Then came Norway vs. Brazil. And I remember sitting there thinking, “Who are these dudes with the brown hair… and why are they running like they’re late for a Viking funeral?” 😅🇳🇴

They weren’t exactly playing samba football—Brazil was out there floating across the pitch like they were auditioning for a dance show—but those Norwegians had something. This stubborn, ‘we-will-not-die-today’ Viking energy that stuck with me forever. ⚔️⚽

Of course, they didn’t survive the group stage (oops), and France went on to win the whole thing, but hey… the drama was GREAT. 😊

Fast forward 27 years… and look at that: Norway is finally heading back to the World Cup! 🎉🇳🇴 Meanwhile, my birth country, Uganda… well, let’s just say we gracefully moved aside and let others “experience the spotlight.” ✨🤣

But after more than a decade living in Norway—and becoming a citizen—my heart is honestly full. My adopted country actually did it.

Living in Norway has taught me one thing: Norwegians are the undisputed masters of understatement 🇳🇴😌

Meanwhile, I’m Ugandan — *we* are the global champions of exaggeration 🇺🇬🔥

Back home, if we haven’t eaten for one hour, we’ll tell our friend:
“Bro, I haven’t eaten in three days, I’m fading away!” 😫🍽️

Spot a woman you like once?
“My guy, she’s the one! I’m ready to pay bride price tomorrow!” 😍💍

Mosquito bites you twice?
“Ah! Malaria has entered my bloodstream!” 🤒🦟

But Norwegians? Completely different.
Your leg could fall off, blood everywhere, and they’ll calmly say,
“Ja… litt vondt.” (Just a little pain.) 😊

You survive a snowstorm, climb a mountain, fight a wolf, lose three toes…
“Was okay. Quite nice actually.” 🥶🐺🚶‍♂️

A Ugandan would already be on TikTok LIVE saying:
“My people, the snow was taller than a building! The wolf was driving a Tesla! I fought with courage and vibes!” 📱🐺😱

Norwegians move around like nothing ever happens:
“I saw a moose on my way to work.” 😐
Ugandan response:
“A WHAT?! YOU’RE STILL ALIVE?!” 🤯

After 12 years here, even I’m changing.
Someone asks how Norway is treating me, and I find myself saying,
“Not bad… just small cold.” 😌❄️

Meanwhile, it’s –25°C and my ancestors back in Kampala are whispering,
“My son, this is not weather, it’s punishment.” 😂😂

But that’s the beauty of it:
Ugandans can make a tiny story sound like Avengers: Endgame,
while Norwegians can make Endgame sound like a lazy Sunday walk.

Opposites attract — and somehow, it works. 😄🇺🇬❤️🇳🇴

Our last event at the legendary Frognerparken was a total vibe — laughter everywhere, games for both the young and the young-at-heart, and let’s not forget… food was in the house! 🍗🍛

Junior Achievement (JA) Africa is seeking a creative and experienced videography team to produce a high-level documentary capturing the impact of our JA Social Equity Program (SEP) over the past three years.

The documentary will spotlight how SEP is transforming the lives of marginalized African youth across 9 countries, equipping them with the skills to build businesses, careers, and stronger communities.

If your team has experience in multi-country shoots, compelling storytelling, and bilingual (English/French) production, we’d love to hear from you.
