Slik løser vi to utfordringer samtidig – vi får folk i jobb, og vi øker mangfoldet og kompetansen i norske selskaper. (English below)

Sammen om en jobb har knyttet over 200 mennesker fra 66 nasjonaliteter med 150 mentorer fra norsk arbeidsliv. I løpet av seks måneder støtter mentoren sin personlige deltaker til å få brukt sin kompetanse og erfaring i en relevant jobb. Tilbake får mentoren ny innsikt, motivasjon og mangfoldskompetanse. ENGLISH:
Sammen om en jobb has matched over 200 people from 66 nationalities with 150 mentors. Over the course of six months, the mentor supports her/ his mentee to facilitate the path towards a relevant job. Her er gjengen samlet i Oslo 👇

Sammen om en jobb-teamet jobber i tre ulike byer. Mye av arbeidet vårt leveres digitalt, og vi er et lite team, avhengige av godt samarbeid og gode relasjoner.

Da er det viktig å samles en gang i blant; for å diskutere jobb, men også for å spise, le og spille dart (!)

Men Sammen om en jobb er ikke bare Ndey Jobarteh, Vilde Thoresen Nord, Miguel Angel Leyva Salas, Rigmor Abel og Tone Indrelid.

🔹 Tone Indrelid is welcoming new mentors and those who were recently matched in the mentor program to a webinar on the mentor and mentee role tomorrow. If you are unavailable tomorrow, or prefer to attend in English, don't worry. The webinar will be held in English next month, and will also be available for members on-demand shortly.

🔹Mangfold I Arbeidslivet is hosting in in-person event on psycological safety and psychosocial working environment in Oslo on Wednesday. Please note that this is an external event.

🔹Miguel Angel Leyva Salas is hosting our monthly career coffee online on Thursday.

Sammen om en jobb runs Norway's largest mentor program for skilled internationals. Last year, we matched 170+ candidates.

We have a running intake, and applications are processed the second Monday of every month.

If you want to apply for a place this month, the deadline to upload paperwork is Sunday 9th.

✅ You live in Norway, have a valid visa and right to apply for work in Norway for min. 9 months

This week, Claudia Antwi-Adjei Hedegaard joined us to share her insights on how to navigate careers in Norway.

80 people registered to attend what turned out to be a fun, insightful and practical conversation.

Here are a few take-aways:

👉 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭.
Moving to a new country can feel like a step back, but navigating a new market and context takes time. Adjust to a new environment, map your full set of skills, and look for lateral moves, transferability, and reinvention opportunities. Don’t limit yourself - challenge yourself to grow.

👉 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.
Don’t start by asking for a favor from someone you hardly know. Think about what you can offer, and be curious about others.
Attend in-person events, even if you don’t understand everything. You never know who you might meet at the coffee table.

👉 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐭.

You come from a different background. You have a different perspective. You can see angles others may not see. That’s a great starting point: use it.
It doesn’t happen by itself, though. You have to do the research, connect the dots, and help a busy hiring manager understand that the best person to solve their problem right now is you.
