🇨🇾For Cyprus National Day, PRIO highlights the vital work of our PRIO Cyprus Centre, supporting colleagues and friends on the island. Since 1974, Cyprus has remained divided, and the situation continues to be complex, with debates over whether recent developments promote peace or reinforce division.

At the same time, rising regional tensions, including the Iran conflict, are affecting Cyprus through increased military activity and security concerns. This makes the work of building knowledge, dialogue, and peace even more important than ever.

On 24-26 March the PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security organised a workshop on 'Civil Society’s Role in Monitoring Ceasefire Agreements and other Conflict-Related Agreements'. The workshop was organised as an activity of the Nordic Women Mediators_Norway, in collaboration with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The workshop gathered 16 civil society representatives (mainly women) from a handful of conflict situations for 2.5 days of intense training, exchange of experiences and networking. This was one of those events where research meets policy and practice in a most meaningful way!

We were supported by a stellar group of resource persons, including Kristin Lund, Sylvia Rani Thompson, Juanita Millan Hernandez, William J Hovland, Atif Hammed, Tetiana Kyselova, Siri Aas Rustad, and Elisabeth Lothe 👇
