As part of Tøyen Unlimiter, the author and founder of Global Happiness has researched Tøyen during different periods. From the SIAN demonstration to the election campaign at Tøyen in recent days. For the first time, I witnessed immigrants and Norwegians conversing in a warm and friendly tone, as they shared a common frame of reference regarding the election. In contrast to the hateful expressions connected to the SIAN demonstration at Tøyen. I noticed that many immigrants were worried and uncertain, feeling excluded from their own residential area where they live.
I am optimistic that Norwegian society is changing in the direction of becoming a more inclusive society. I am 100% certain that a shared frame of reference is the key to a more integrated society. In contrast to the “us and them” divide that splits people based on ethnicity, religion, and culture.
