Barents Regional Youth Council

Barents Regional Youth Council BRYC is an international organization uniting young people in the Barents Region, focusing on creating a stable network and realizing projects.

Barents Regional Youth Council consists of one youth representative from each county, oblast, republic and okrug in the region and one representative for indigenous youths, all together 14 people. The main goal of BRYC is to promote the idea of living in the high north as a unique opportunity for young people to express themselves. Our vision is to make the Barents region more attractive for youth

and to encourage them to choose to stay in the region or to return to it after completing their education. The core values are tolerance, cooperation, reliability, fairness and respect, as a basis of everything we do.

“We can’t forget our incredible experience about a month ago at the Arctic Circle Assembly 2024 in Reykjavík, Iceland 🇮🇸, where BRYC joined forces with the International Barents Secretariat! 🌍✨

The Assembly gathered leaders, experts, and youth from across the Arctic to discuss pressing topics shaping our future. Some memorable highlights:

🌿 Climate change adaptation and innovative solutions to mitigate its impacts.
🤝 Strengthening international cooperation on Arctic research and sustainable development.
👤 Indigenous rights and cultural preservation across the Arctic.
💼 Economic development, focusing on sustainable industries and entrepreneurship.
💻 Digital innovation and infrastructure improvements in remote regions.
🏥 Addressing health and social challenges in Arctic communities.
🛡️ Enhancing security and resilience amidst geopolitical changes.

We also got the opportunity to attend a regional youth meet-up, “Youth Together for Arctic Futures,” and a youth networking lunch.

Right after the Assembly, the BRYC Board held a meeting to continue refining the Barents Youth Program for 2025-2027. We’re inspired for the journey ahead! 🌟 And of course, Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes added to the unforgettable experience! 🇮🇸🏞️
