Tenthaus

Tenthaus Art collective and artist run space in Oslo, Norway Tenthaus Art Collective has been working together in various constellations since 2009.

The collective is characterized by an open, process-oriented form of participation and collaboration. They focus on local contexts exploring collectivity and inclusion through different forms of engagement . Tenthaus began as an artists-in-schools project and over a decade later they continue to maintain strong relations to the community and works to cultivate and nurture its environment. Today Te

nthaus encompasses both a project room and an exhibition space, a mobile studio, and a wide range of curatorial projects. As a collective Tenthaus reimagines themselves and what it means to be artists working with the public, and what makes a relevant socially engaged practice today. The collective works with discursive events, radio, research, exchanges, workshops and exhibitions with an international orientation. Each of its members brings a distinct set of skills, practices and cultural knowledge. The distinctive result of their collaborations and collective discussion is visible through their work. Tenthaus is funded by Norsk Kulturråd (2016-2019, 2019-2022 Arrangørstøtte) and driftstøtte Oslo kommune, support for workshops by Sparebankstiftelsen 2021-2024 as well as various other project support. P1 (Prototyp1) - is a mobile studio for artists in schools and a touring artist residency that Tenthaus started in 2018. P1 is a mobile structure which is physically placed in the schools and function as a conglomerate between the art scene and the school. Through the artist’s physical presence in the everyday operation in schools, the threshold to active collaboration, workshops, dialogues and encounters is diminished. Encounters between artists, teachers and pupils will occur as a natural part of the daily life. Thus, Tenthaus attempt to give visual artists an integrated practice in the form of physical ateliers in schools, where the artist is provided with safe and solid working spaces, is secured good working conditions, and is given opportunities for exchange between the school and the artist. The result is two containers, a workshop and a studio, two modules which function as a mobile workplace for artists and which are placed in a school. So far, P1 - Mobilt Atelier has been in Oslo, Levanger, Trondheim, Halden and Lier and now we are moving it into Moss, during preparations for the curation of the biennale Momentum 12.

Exhibition: April 16 - May 3, 2026
Fri-Sun, 2-6pm, opening Thursday, April 16, 6-8pm

Tenthaus invites you to Common Alphabet – Coincidences and a bit of culture by Stefan Schröder. The artist shows a selection of drawings from Common Alphabet and a new installation in sand and pigment. Today's news in the form of Klassekampen's newspaper pages squeezes into an abstract idiom based on industrially produced cardboard packaging.

Stefan Schröder works at the intersection of art and construction, with time as a central material. Drawing on experience in both building and fine art, he examines how structures emerge and transform — in architecture, in language, and in social relations. Schröder has exhibited at, among others, Festspielhaus Hellerau, Preus Museum, Kunstnernes Hus, Galerie Gebr. Lehmann, RAKE, the Sculpture Biennale, the Drawing Biennale, the Autumn Exhibition and has completed a number of public art commissions in Norway and Germany.

9.3 2026 Workshop with Møllergata skole 3.klasse with Lise Linnert and Noe Rapela.
Since 2018, Linnert has returned each year to work with students at Møllergata Skole in Oslo. Through plant dyeing, textiles, and conversation, children have engaged with questions of care, protest, feminist struggle, and human rights. Each year, students produced protest T-shirts, banners, and flags, culminating in collective actions on 25 November, the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Originally planned to continue until 2030, the project concludes as Møllergata School closes in summer 2026. During the exhibition, Linnert will conduct a final workshop with students, reflecting on how communities hold one another through loss and change. In addition, A Flag for the Earth will be raised in the school’s backyard as a grounding gesture.

Håp er å gjøre, igjen og igjen
Hope is doing, again and again
Lise Linnert, March 6 to 29, 2026

Tenthaus is pleased to present Hope is doing, again and again, a solo exhibition by artist Lise Linnert. How can we mend this world? Perhaps we begin in our neighbourhood, in our local school, on our street. Perhaps hope and organised action have a ripple effect. Linnert’s practice explores how hope comes to life through collective action and, when practised repeatedly, can leave a mark.

Across the Tenthaus exhibition rooms and the Møllergata Skole flagpole, hope becomes material. The first room carries traces of a long process with children, where hope appears not as certainty but as a force shaped by its conditions: pressed by wars and gendered violence, yet sustained by the quiet persistence of everyday life.

Since 2018, Linnert has returned each year to work with 4th-grade students at Møllergata Skole in Oslo.

The second room shelters the project’s foundation: a stained, repeatedly mended tablecloth. From this ground, Linnert builds together with others. Every choice carries weight: how to mend, where pigments come from, how time is spent together. The third space opens into a room within a room, constructed from patchwork: a soft sanctuary, a place to land, pause, and imagine.

Hope is doing, again and again insists that hope is not abstract. It is something we practice together, repeatedly, through action and care.

sun song
Solidary sun

A sweet v***r filled the room and small lights flickered in purple, green, yellow, red. You were served a pale liquid. A foam gathered on the surface. You took three calm sips.

Suddenly, your eyes rolled inward, into your skull. At the moment it turned dark, you saw the liquid pouring down your esophagus, into your stomach.

I will give you a myth, as an image of what we are fighting for.

Solar Milkshake Cabaret is a sensorial installation work where the gallery space is transformed into a performance stage inspired by the hybrid form of the cabaret tradition as a place for art, serving and as a social and political meeting place.
In Solar Milkshake Cabaret, the reproductive body is the cabaret star, pouring its products of flow into vibrating deluge.

Julie Barfod was born (in Telemark). She lives and works in Oslo. She is finishing her MA from the Oslo Academy of Fine Arts in spring 2026, she is previously an architect (MA, Bergen School of Architecture). Her works unfold as immersive installations in which architecture and space become active agents. She often works collaboratively and interdisciplinarily, mainly with performance, sculpture, text and sound. Her most recent works examine the material and social dimensions of reproductive work, where she draws lines between the private, erotic, political and cosmic.
