FURIM Institutt bidrar til utvikling og formidling av arbeid innen friluft, ungdom, reiseliv, idrett og medisin på lokalt, nasjonalt og internasjonalt nivå

FURIM Institutt driver med arbeid og prosjekter for å belyse problemstillinger som finnes innen idrett og friluftsliv, ved å utvikle samarbeid gjennom dialog, på tvers av fagområder gjennom konkrete prosjekter og en synliggjøring av disse, for samfunnet og på tvers av ulike samfunnsgrupper i Norge. Vi baserer vår virksomhet på den viten at spesielt barn og eldre trenger gode rollemodeller for en bedre helse og det faktum at idrett er helsefremmende og en sosial arena hvor man opplever mestring og stifterbekjentskap. Dessuten ønsker vi å rette søkelys på behov for kunnskap innenfor et stadig mer mangfoldig helse- og pasient-Norge. Målet med denne foreningen er å utvikle en sosial plattform blant helsearbeidere/pasienter, idrettsgrupper og idrettsutøvere. Med dette ønsker foreningen å støtte opp under mangfoldet, med et ønske om tanker, meninger og prosjektsamarbeid fra andre helse- og idrettsindivider eller organisasjoner som vil og kan bidra til økt kunnskap og innsikt innad i foreningen innenfor fokusområder. Foreningen organiserer ulike aktiviteter og arrangementer for å være en løsningsorientert støttespiller for helse- og idrettutfordringer som er aktuelle til enhver tid.

Feedback from the other side of the table.
In August we hosted a focus group with career counsellors from NAV (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) as part of the HEIDI testing phase.
Career counsellors are the ones sitting across from adult immigrants in real life. They see where a CV falls short, where a qualification gets lost in translation, and where someone's actual competence never makes it onto the page.
So we walked them through the platform first, the Self-Assessment and Screening & Mapping Tools, and how skills are digitally certified and then handed the floor over. The discussion followed a set of guiding questions: where these tools would fit into an existing counselling session, what a counsellor would need in order to use them with a client, which parts are unclear, and what is missing altogether. Everything said in the room was recorded as feedback for the development team.

Honest input is the most useful kind. Thank you to our colleagues from NAV for a genuinely valuable conversation.

Your skills didn't stay behind at the border. They just became harder to prove.
That sentence describes the situation of a lot of people who move to a new country with a degree and years of professional experience and it's the situation the HEIDI platform was built for.
In August, 22 adult immigrants joined us at FURIM Institute for a hands-on training session on the platform, bringing a wide range of professions and countries into the room.
We didn't just present it, everyone worked through it themselves. Participants created their profiles, completed the Self-Assessment Tool and read their own results together with our team. From there we moved to the Screening & Mapping Tool to see how those skills line up with actual job opportunities, and finished with the Skills Certification Platform, where soft skills can be digitally validated and shown to an employer.
The last part of the session was the most important one for us: an open feedback round. HEIDI is currently in its testing phase, which means the platform is being tried out by the people it was designed for, and their comments go straight back to the development team.

Earlier this month, researcher at FURIM Institutt volunteered as a group leader at TENK Tech Camp Oslo, a two-day technology camp for girls aged 13 to 19.

Said followed a group of participants throughout the camp, helping them move between workshops, work through technical problems and, when necessary, debug whatever had stopped working.

Over the two days, the participants explored technology through hands-on activities including building and programming with micro:bits, creating images and animations with LEDs, and solving a digital detective challenge using Python, HTML, Base64 and online tools. The workshops were combined with talks from women working in technology and opportunities to learn about different paths into the field.

For FURIM, activities like this matter. Research and engineering should not exist only inside laboratories and universities. Giving young people the chance to build something themselves, get stuck, solve the problem and continue is one of the most direct ways of making STEM feel accessible.

Vi har startet Mentorized Kompetanseløft.

På oppstartssamlingen i Oslo presenterte vi prosjektet for deltakere som vil videre i arbeid og utdanning.

Kompetanseløft kombinerer tre elementer:
↳ Digitale verktøy
↳ Personlig mentor
↳ Fysiske samlinger

Slik er prosjektet organisert:
Steg 1: Selvevaluering og kartlegging med HEIDI-plattformen, karriereplanlegging og gratis digitalt kurs i myke ferdigheter.
Steg 2: Ukentlig 1-1 mentoring.
Steg 3: Månedlige fysiske seminarer.
Steg 4: Bedre veivalg for kvalifisering til jobb eller utdanning.

Målet er konkret. Øke deltakernes kvalifisering for arbeid og utdanning, styrke digitale ferdigheter, øke forståelsen av norsk arbeidsliv og hjelpe deltakerne med realistiske karrierevalg.

Prosjektet er gratis og støttet av Oslo kommune. Det er åpent for innvandrere, flyktninger, kvinner, unge voksne og langtidsledige i Oslo og omegn.

We completed the LEAP workshop in Oslo today. About 30 people joined us.

FURIM Institute ran the workshop together with NAV Vestre Aker. LEAP is an Erasmus+ adult education project developed by Norway, the Netherlands, Poland and Estonia: a free digital learning platform built for adult immigrants.

The goal is simple. Strengthen the skills adults already bring with them, so the way into Norwegian working life and society gets shorter.

What we covered in the room:

↳ How the digital tools map skills people already have
↳ How participants can use it on their own, at no cost

🇪🇺 A great close to our DCE journey in Sicily! 🇮🇹

From 27–31 July 2026, our partnership gathered in Milazzo / Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto for the final European Prompt-a-thon of the Digital Citizenship Education – Learn, Connect, Engage, Thrive (DCE) project.

Over four intensive days, educators and adult learners from three countries worked hand in hand to explore how Artificial Intelligence can strengthen digital citizenship and active participation. Highlights included:

The live "Building Europe – Gala della Mobilità Europea" Prompt-a-thon experience, showing how AI-supported gamification turns participants into active contributors
A hands-on workshop on designing an AI-supported Prompt-a-thon, using Design Thinking and tools like Loveable
A Co-creation Lab where international teams built real AI-supported learning experiences
A final evaluation and reflection session on transferring the methodology to adult education

Day 3 in Norway. All 6 modules delivered. ✅

The final 3 curriculum modules were completed s, closing the workshop phase of the MEFER International Training.

Here's what Day 3 covered:

Module 4 — Virtual Mentorship & Peer Support Systems
Led by SOMOS Europa (Spain). How to build trust, empathy and meaningful support structures for young people in online environments.

Module 5 — Content Creation for Virtual Environments
Led by YES (Poland). Storytelling, gamification, visual design and interactive scenario-building for immersive tools.

Module 6 — Digital Infrastructure & Security
Led by BEYOND42 (Serbia). Setup, cybersecurity, data protection and technical resilience in immersive settings.

After the sessions, participants got their first live access to the MEFER 3D Virtual Learning Platform built by BEYOND42.

Between sessions, the Norwegian landscape did its part. Fresh air, open sky and a cabin setting that made collaboration feel natural. Six modules in, not one moment wasted.

The first full workshop day, and we went straight into it.

Three partner organisations took the floor and delivered three curriculum modules:

Module 1 — CKM (Croatia): Understanding Immersive Technologies & Platforms. Technical Foundation: Definitions, hardware/software overviews, platforms, cost, and basic technical accessibility

Module 2 — FURIM Institute (Norway): Ethics and Responsible Use. Safety, inclusion and accountability in virtual environments. The rules before the tools.

Module 3 — METU (Turkey): Inclusive Design and Multicultural Approaches. Building virtual spaces that work across cultures, languages and learning styles.

Each module combined theory inputs with hands-on group activities. 30 youth workers from 6 countries engaged, challenged each other, and started building a shared framework for metaverse-based practice.

Three down. Three to go.

Erasmus+ ungdom Somos Europa

After months of online meetings, planning documents and shared drives, the MEFER consortium finally met in person. 30 youth workers and project coordinators from 6 countries arrived at a cabin venue outside Oslo for four days of workshops, collaboration and shared learning.

Day 1 was about settling in. Partners who had only seen each other through screens sat around the same table for the first time. Coordinators walked everyone through the full agenda: 6 curriculum modules across 2 workshop days, a live demo of the 3D virtual learning platform, and a final consortium meeting to close it all out.

The MEFER project (MEtaverse Futures: Education beyond Realms) is an Erasmus+ KA220-YOU partnership between FURIM Institute (Norway), CKM (Croatia), METU (Turkey), SOMOS Europa (Spain), YES (Poland), and BEYOND42 (Serbia).

Together, we've built a curriculum and a 3D platform that brings the Metaverse into youth work practice across Europe.
