FURIM Institutt

Day 4. The final day. And maybe the most personal one.

Session 5 was led by Novo Mundo (Portugal) — and it started with a question:

"Which candidate would you hire?"

Two CVs. Same job. One standard. One backed by Erasmus+, Youthpass and real intercultural experience.

The room didn't hesitate.

That's what Youthpass does. It doesn't give you skills, it helps you name the ones you already have.

The Kahoot check-in made it visible: Adaptability. Empathy. Teamwork. Patience. Communication. These aren't soft skills. They're EU Key Competences and every person in that room had already built them.

Then came the circle.

Every participant got space to speak. About workplace rights. About their journey. About what four days in Oslo actually meant.

You could feel it. Something had shifted.

To everyone who showed up, shared honestly and stayed open:
This was your training. You made it what it was.

Day 3 in Oslo, and FURIM Institute took the floor. 🖥️

Session 4 was all about the future of work and what it actually means for young migrants and refugees navigating a rapidly changing job market.

We started with the numbers: by 2030, AI will displace 92 million jobs. But it will also create 170 million new ones. Net gain: +78M. The question isn't whether the market is changing it's whether you're positioned for what's coming.

Then we talked about what AI cannot replace.

Empathy. Trust. Physical skills. Cultural bridge. Creative judgment. Adaptability. These are the top skills the World Economic Forum says employers will need most and they're exactly the skills our participants already carry.

Being multilingual isn't just a personal asset. It's a professional skill worth thousands.
Navigating between cultures isn't just resilience. It's a global workplace super-skill.
You've already done the hard part.

The session closed with a hands-on AI workshop: participants opened Claude.ai, researched in-demand jobs in Norway, practised writing cover letters, and explored certification paths all in real time.

Then came the action plan. One target job. Three skills you already have. One skill to learn. One concrete step this week.

Day 3 done. Your move.

Career guidance isn't about telling you where to go. It's about helping you navigate.

Day 2 of the BITE International Training in Oslo brought a full session with our partner High On Life a European NGO with a clear mission: empowering young people to build lives that are truly their own.

Here's what happened on Day 2 (20 May):

Session 3 — Digital Skills & Career Orientation (High On Life)

High On Life opened with an introduction to their work across Europe, from youth entrepreneurship and inclusive society building to environmental consciousness and active citizenship rights.

The session closed with a powerful framework: Orientation is a compass, not a map. Career guidance isn't one meeting, it starts before the job search and continues after. It's not about telling people what to do, but helping them navigate choices over time.

Participants left with tools, context and a clearer sense of direction.

Day 1 is done. And it was only the beginning.

This week, FURIM Institute is hosting the BITE International Training in Oslo — bringing together young migrants and refugees aged 16–30 from across Europe for 5 days of non-formal learning, real skills, and hands-on employability guidance.

Here's what happened on Day 1 (19 May):

Session 1 — Welcome, Trust & Initial Assessment (Inserta Andalucía, Spain)
The morning started with a welcome circle, group agreements and expectations mapping. Participants shared their life timelines — marking key moments of learning, work and migration. Mini diagnostic interviews in triads opened up honest conversations and began the process of building each person's individual employability plan.

Session 2 — Personal & Social Skills for Work (Somos Europa)
The afternoon focused on the competences that matter in any workplace: self-confidence, resilience, active listening and intercultural communication. Through competence cards and role-play exercises, participants connected their own strengths to real employer expectations.

Two sessions. One day. Real stories already on the table.

Did you know? 72% of new jobs in Europe now require digital skills, yet many educated immigrants have no access to tools that recognize and assess what they already know.

1 in 3 highly educated immigrants in Europe is working in a job below their qualification level. That's not a skills gap. That's a recognition gap.

The HEIDI Project is changing this. Together with 7 European partners, we're building free, multilingual digital self-assessment tools designed specifically for adult immigrants, so their skills can finally be seen, validated, and matched to the right opportunities.

Because language learning alone isn't enough. The tools need to catch up.
