Through various events and media, Oslo Architecture Triennale seeks to challenge the field of architecture, engage the public and inspire local and international debate. Our six founding member organizations are: Oslo School of Architecture and Design, National Museum – Architecture, National Association of Norwegian Architects, The Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture, Oslo Association of Architects and Oslo Business Region.

Design Museum Gent by Carmody Groarke features the Gent Waste Brick, made from 63% recycled local municipal waste, showing how local waste can become a low-carbon building material.

What if urban development were not constrained by what already exists, but rather a natural continuation of it?

With leading expertice in adaptive reuse of buildings, the architectural practice BUILT offers a different way of thinking, working with the potential of existing buildings. At this years triennale, Built arkitekter presents Grønn Liste- a planning tool for informed decisions about structures, materials and longevity. Their goal is to preserve as much of the building as possible, focusing equally on what is has been as what it can become.

Studio Coquille’s contribution to the 2026 Oslo Architecture Triennale explores this question through “The Habitable Skin”, inviting us to reconsider the relationship between buildings and the living systems they are a part of.

For generations, we built with the land. We read the contours of the landscape, followed the flow of water, and planted where the sun reached. Then we began reshaping the land itself. This year’s Triennale asks whether we can find our way back.

Pihlmann Architects explore architecture through a site-derived practice, working with the potential of what already exists.

To be presented at the triennale, their project Thoravej 29 serves as a great example. An old factory building in Copenhagen given new life by being transformed into a community hub- turning old materials and spaces into new possibilities.
