Norsk Forening for Rettsfilosofi er den norske avdelingen av IVR (Internationale Vereinigung für Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie - the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy). Norsk Forening for Rettsfilosofi ble grunnlagt av Torstein Eckhoff og Gert Fredrik Malt på begynnelsen av 1980 - tallet. Foreningen har siden starten hatt fem formenn:

About

The International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) is the world’s central academic organization in legal and social philosophy, and was founded in Berlin on 1 October 1909. The purpose of the Association is the cultivation and promotion of legal and social philosophy at both the national and the international level.

The primary activities of the IVR include a World Congress every two years, publication of the international journal Archiv fuhr Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie (ARSP), and the IVR Encyclopedia of the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy. The seat of IVR is in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Many notable academics have served as president of the organization, including Neil MacCormick (Scotland), Ulfrid Neumann (Germany), Enrico Pattaro (Italy), Eugenio Bulygin (Argentina) and Mortimer Sellers (United States).

The International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy is divided into autonomous national sections embracing most of the nations of the world.
