Our Story
The Children At Risk Foundation employs preventive strategies in order to stem the flow of street children from favela areas in São Paulo, Brazil.
These areas are often highly incriminated, both in regards to drug trafficking, street children, poverty, alcoholism, and crime. Our project uses arts, creativity, culture, sports and alternative education as the tools to combat these negative influences and is based on the children’s own creative knowledge, self confidence and belief in their own abilities. The focus and energy is directed at positive experiences and a feeling of community.
Children and youngsters in the different activities are connected to similar groups in Norway, to have contact, mutual inspiration and exchange both ways.
