What a week of design, dialogue and regeneration.

We launched our partnership with Lerøy and Ocean Forest, introduced Woolly at Designers’ Saturday in Oslo with Minus and FjordMoods, and took part in The Public Sustainable Acquisition Forum Toulon in France, together with our newest team member, Emily.

Across these arenas we met cities, architects, designers, farmers, investors and innovators who see potential in bringing regenerative principles into real projects.

From replacing plastic with biodegradable materials to designing local value chains that give back to nature, the momentum is clear.

From waste to value is no longer just a vision – it is becoming a practice. 🌱

Want to jump on our new BAREMARK mycelium playground? Our first pilot test is ready at Kim Frieles Plass in Bergen city center! The prefabricated modules secures a soft landing with zero fossil-based, toxic or eternity materials, and is a direct replacement for the microplastics-generating rubber granulate with carcinogenic glue widely used today. Biospinout One and Bioregion Institute work to foster a regenerative future where cities can be a place for nature to thrive!

Thursday 23 May 🌱 Full Moon Bio-talks 🌱 17.00-20.00

It will be a unique event with the opening of the BIODEEPMAP exhibition joined with SLAM DUNK project speculative use of micro algae.
We look forward to see you there.

Our program BioDeepMap, aimed at deep mapping bioresources for artistic research-based activities and innovative material development, will showcase the work of the participating artists and designers.

BioDeepMap brings competence across crafts, art and design together with scientific expertise to produce knowledge for a new and more sustainable materiality. Through three modules, seven artists and designers worked on material innovation with experts from other disciplines within the sciences and humanities. The participating artists and designers used different residual organic raw material to explore the properties, aesthetics, and potential of bio-based materials.

SLAM DUNK aims to develop a sustainable value chain for the conversion of fish sludge into valuable products. As such, the project is not only work on solutions for the sludge problem, but actually turn the aquaculture sludge into value. Novel treatment technologies (anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis, and microalgae) are developed or optimized, and integrated to turn the sludge into potential materials for use in several sectors, such as architecture, consumer goods, and textiles.

SLAM DUNK Partners:
NORCE as project leader, Marineholmen RASlab, University of Bergen and Wageningen University from the Netherlands, Feeder International, Prototech, Bioregion Institute.
