We’re approaching 100 signups for Single Mingel! 🤩🕺

Join us at Garasjebryggeriet this Friday for a relaxed summer evening with good vibes and the chance to meet new people! ☀️

So far, 66% of those signed up are men and 34% are women, and we hope even more people want to join before Friday 🎉

Come on your own or bring a friend – you can expect some fun activities to make it easier to connect with others, including conversation starters and a fun round of music bingo (with prizes!) 🎶🥳

Good food, great conversations and a park full of people 🌿🎶

Thousands of people gathered in Bibliotekparken for the final day of Mangfoldsfest 2026, celebrating diversity through international food, music, cultural performances and activities for all ages 🌯

Participants from 13 countries shared traditional food, culture and performing arts. Events like Mangfoldsfest highlight the importance of spaces where people can connect across cultures and experiences – and a Haugalandet where everyone feels they belong 💛

A big thank you to Haugesund folkebibliotek, all organisers and everyone who contributed to making the festival such a welcoming celebration of community, and to everyone who stopped by our stand! 🎊

From a hotel job 🏨 to an engineering role 👷

When Ahmad Al-Btoush moved to Haugalandet, he assumed his engineering degree and strong English skills would quickly lead to relevant employment 👔

The journey took longer than expected.

At Mingel x Mangfoldsfest, he and others shared experiences and advice about finding work and building a career in Norway, and what it often takes beyond formal qualifications:

👋 Networks and local experience often matter as much as education
💡 The first job can be an important stepping stone
🚪 Volunteering, part-time work and internships can open unexpected doors
🔑 Many jobs are never advertised, so direct contact is key
🇳🇴 Even basic Norwegian shows motivation and creates opportunities

This week is all about meeting people and celebrating community 😊🎊 Alongside our regular activities, we're joining Mangfoldsfest at Haugesund folkebibliotek! Come and join us for conversations, activities and new connections:

☕️ Tuesday: Coffee Mingel – a relaxed drop-in for coffee, conversations and questions about living and working in the region.

💬 Wednesday: Language Café – a friendly space to meet new people and practice the language, regardless of Norwegian level. Last session before the summer break!

🎊 Wednesday: Mingel x Mangfoldsfest – a social evening focusing on job opportunities, work life and belonging in Haugalandet!

🌿 Saturday: International Food Market – discover new flavours, experience different cultures, and come say hello to us at our stand in Bibliotekparken!
