For Einar Rokseth, the Bible verse 2 Timothy 4:6-8 holds profound meaning:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day."
I first met Einar in 2018 in Rissa. As a student under NBF, I was directed to him by someone aware of his generosity in hosting students like me, offering accommodation and support. Upon arriving at his address, I was greeted warmly by a kind man, and thus began our friendship. Every summer, I would visit him, and we would embrace, dance, share stories, and do house exercises together .
Einar was affectionately known as 'Papa Einar' to many, including myself. His compassion served refugees and individuals, here in Norway and some parts in the Middle East and Africa, providing educational support and other assistance. He dedicated his entire life to serving others.
During our conversations, I discovered a man deeply devoted to God, who lived his life in service to others. His passing has deeply saddened those of us who knew him and experienced his warmth and love. Upon receiving his battle in illness last year, whenever I called, he would reassure me, saying, "I am not well, Laban. Come when you find time." I cherish the memories, including the attached last photo taken during my visit to him, which has become my last memory of him.
In his honor, we continue to embody hope and love, carrying on his legacy of service to others. My heartfelt condolences go out to his entire family and the community of Rissa. A man of the people, a man of God, has found rest.
Einar fought a noble fight and completed his journey. Farewell, Papa Einar.
