Five Thousand Generations of birds is an exhibition located in the archipelago of Fitjar, on the West coast of Norway, - a landscape consisting of 381 islands, isles and reefs. The exhibition will be located at Smedholmen, together with a number of surrounding isles. A shortlist of participants is now released! Each participating artist will be given an island to produce a temporary and site
specific work. Five thousand generations of birds is initiated by the artists Silje Linge Haaland and Andrea Bakketun.

Five thousand generations of birds er en utstilling i Fitjarøyene, Sunnhordland, 10.– 12. Fitjarøyenes 381 øyer, holmer og skjær, er utgangspunktet for utstillingen. Smedholmen er valgt til hovedbase, sammen med de omkringliggende holmene. De deltagende kunstnerne er nå offentliggjort! Hver kunstner får utdelt en øy der de skal produsere et midlertidig og stedsspesifikt arbeid. Five thousand generations of birds er initiert av kunstnerne Silje Linge Haaland og Andrea Bakketun.
