We will get 67 tons of Mercury out of the North Sea

Global Mercury Scandal action group was formed after a meeting at the island Fedje outside the west coast of Norway june 27. 2018. The wreck of the German submarine U-864 that was sunk outside Fedje in 1945 contains 67 tons of metallic Mercury. We want to take all the Mercury in the submarine and in the sea bed out of the marine environment. We are concerned that if not, the poison will spread into the North Sea, the Gulf Stream and further contaminate the Atlantic Ocean.

Contamination can happen through leakage from the sand cover, or by self ignition of the explosives, or by collapse of the hull from the cover or an earth quake.

Our solution is to take out the explosives and Mercury from the submarine, dig out the remaining parts of the keel with Mercury containers from the seabed, and restore the sea bed with a suction mudder method. The norwegian state must ensure that this is done in the most safe and environmental friendly way as possible.

We just ask the politicians to stop and concider the new perspective that is based on common basic knowledge.
