The main activities of the Foundation are presenting the annual Rafto Prize for human rights work, following up projects concerning the Rafto Laureates and human rights education. The Rafto Foundation was established in the humanistic tradition of the Helsinki Accord and aims to promote the three fundamental human rights of intellectual, political and economic freedom.

The Rafto Prize 2026 is awarded to the Collegiate Body of Guardians of the Atrato River (CCGA) for their courageous fight against environmental destruction and for the protection of human rights in Colombia.

Hope Is a Word åpner menneskerettighetsprogrammet Checkpoints 🖊

Den rørende og dagsaktuelle skildringen av Raftoprisvinner Nnimmo Basseys poetiske motstand mot oljeforurensning i Niger-deltaet regissert av Maria Galliani Dyrvik åpner Checkpoints torsdag 16. oktober.

Checkpoints-programmet er et samarbeid mellom BIFF og Rafto Foundation for Human Rights.
