UN experts call for an urgent, independent investigation after the killing of Yanar Mohammed in Iraq.

Yanar was on one of the most courageous human rights defenders of our time. In 2016, Yanar was awarded the Rafto Prize for her tireless work for women’s rights in Iraq under extremely challenging conditions.

We call for justice for Yanar: investigate immediately, hold perpetrators accountable, and protect Human Rights Defenders at risk.

Rafto laureate 2024 Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara writes from his prison cell in Cuba.

For nearly five years, he has been imprisoned for exercising his freedom of expression as an artist. In his words, he reflects on the cost of speaking out and on his enduring hope for a freer, more just Cuba.

We call for his immediate release and the release of all political prisoners!

Navigating the Future 🌊 As the world order as we know it begins to unravel, how are shipping companies advancing sustainability in an increasingly volatile global context?

Join us Wednesday 22 April during One Ocean Week. This event brings together leading actors from the maritime industry and sustainability experts to explore these challenges and highlight concrete solutions that are making a real international impact.

Participants will gain insight into how Norwegian shipping companies set high standards for responsible conduct, and how partnerships between shipping actors and civil society can drive best practices across the industry.

Some stories end quietly. This one shouldn’t.

After 35 years of investigating, documenting and exposing grave human rights violations against Palestinian children, Rafto laureate Defense for Children International - Palestine has been forced to shut down.

Not because the need disappeared. But because the pressure became unbearable: Attacks. Surveillance. Smear campaigns. Criminalization. Threats. Isolation.

Children seeking help risk being associated with an "outlawed" entity, potentially complicating their legal cases or making them targets for further harassment.

DCIP staff face the constant threat of arrest, travel bans, and personal financial sanctions. Previous Israeli military office raids and the destruction of DCIP records by Israeli military forces have made the workplace a site of trauma rather than a sanctuary for human rights work.

The struggle for Palestinian children is far from over. They continue to face the horrors of genocide, military arbitrary detention, torture, ill-treatment and the theft of their futures.

We refuse to accept that defending children’s human rights is treated as a crime.

We call on the international community to use all available means to hold Israeli authorities accountable for targeted attacks and repression of Palestinian human rights defenders and to finally prioritize the lives of Palestinian children over political expediency.

History will remember who spoke up. And who stayed silent.

Stand with Palestinian children.
Stand with human rights defenders.
Demand accountability.

A record number of 180 children are currently in administrative detention in Israeli prisons. More than half of Palestinian children detainees are held without charges.

Today, on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Child, remember:

These are not numbers, these are children who have gotten their fundamental human rights taken away from them.

Children who should be playing, learning, dreaming, not living in fear, not behind bars, not stripped of their childhood under occupation and genocide.

They deserve a future free from violence, forced displacement, occupation, and oppression.

Today and every single day.

On this Eid and Nawroz, we extend our wishes for peace and solidarity!💜🌙

At a time that should be marked by celebration, togetherness, and hope, we hold in our hearts those observing under the shadow of violence, forced displacement, and genocide.

May this day remind us of our shared humanity and our collective responsibility to stand for justice and human rights for everyone.
