LOCATION: Padibe East in Lamwo District.
This activity was carried out on the 16th & 17th /April/2025. It was organised by Vento and conducted by Rev Komagum Geoffrey, Lajara Beatrice Oburu and Lapala Grace.
The team carried out the routine field activities where 4 of the of community saving groups and some individual clients of the organisation were visited.
Among the groups visited were; Tic Ber saving group, Ket Itic saving group, Ket Itic Mix saving group and Tii Kikomi Group VSLA community group in Padibe East, Lamwo district in Northern Uganda.
3 of the groups are old ones and Ket Itic Mix is a new one.
We were also able to visit the regular individual clients and delivered to them some small stipend for upkeep in term of money and tangible items (posho, sugar and soap).
They were very impressed with the deliveries and continuously wishing the organisation well.
Among the clients visited were (Apiyo Molly, Lubangakene Peter, Ojok Michael, and Acan Jerodina).
OLD SAVING GROUP GIVES BIRTH TO A NEW!
Ket Itic Mix has been given birth to by Ket Itic saving group. The latter raised and gave back the capital amount of one million shillings (1,000,000/=). This fund has been used to expand the new group! (Ket Itic Mix VSLA) in Padibe East.
During the visit, the team was excited on the progress they got with most of the groups. We are glad to report that, the little capital being given to the groups is being put into good use, and it is bearing positive impact to the groups and individual group members.
SUCCESS STORIES
Among the success stories the team got are:
Some members have used the money borrowed for buying live stock ie goats and others bought chicken, which they are keeping as income generating activities.
One of the groups, Tii Kikomi, has used the money to plough group’s garden and the members are intending to plant crops for sales.
Ket Itic Saving group has raised from their interest 1,000,000/= and gave to support a new group (Ket Itic Mix) with 30 members. This is the first group yet to give back their revolving capital.
Rubangakene Peter, one of Action For Need’s clients has qualified for district Athletics competition. During the visit, we were not able to see from the school because he had gone for the competition.
Some have used the money for medication, some for scholastic materials and payment of school fees and buying household facilities among others.
FUTURE PROJECTS
Some group members shared with the team their future projection plans. Among them:
Some members are planning to buy iron sheets with the money they borrow to construct better housing facilities, while others said they will need to buy piece of land if their interest grows. Others are planning to buy live stock ranging from chicken, goats, pigs and cattle to keep and some would want to buy oxen to plough. They said, this will be possible in the long run as their borrowing schemes would be growing. And some want to inject the money to boost their small scale business.
CHALLENGES
They also said, much as they are trying to multiply the capital, there are some challenges they are facing. These include;
Limited amount of the capital being shared as for loan.
Frequent sickness from time to time of some members.
Poor harvest due to harsh weather.
Overwhelming responsibilities to be met with the little available fund among others.

NB. When the team visited Ojok Michael and Lubangakene Peter from their schools, they were out schools. Ojok Michael had requested the school to go and do some part time work (construction), that he does from time to time to raise his school fees. Currently, Action for the Need only provides him with scholastic.
On the other hand, when we reached at Lubangakene Peter’s school, we found that he has been qualified for district athletics competition representing the disabled, so we did not meet him.
