One month after retiring from the NBA, Russell Westbrook is stepping into his next role in basketball.⁠

The 18-year veteran has taken an equity stake in Project B and will serve as its chief strategy officer and a member of the board. Westbrook will help lead the startup’s basketball business as it prepares to launch tournaments across Asia, Europe and the Americas in January.⁠
⁠
Project B plans to feature both men’s and women’s competitions alongside week-long festivals in each host city. WNBA stars Alyssa Thomas, Jonquel Jones and Azzi Fudd are among the players already recruited, with several reportedly offered equity and salaries exceeding $1 million.⁠
