The next Transformative change seminar will take place 26 June and focuses on case studies as application examples.

Stoyan Nedkov is a physical geographer specializing in ecology, services assessments, , and . He is a professor in Cartography and GIS at the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NIGGG-BAS), and has more than 2️⃣0️⃣ years of research experience primarily in international projects.

Stoyan Nedkov is Deputy Director of Science and Education at the NIGGG-BAS and Head of the GIS Section at the same Institute. Prof. Nedkov has research experience in landscape , # of -related ecosystem services and protection. He has worked on dozens of national and international research projects as a team member and coordinator, including projects funded by EBR, NATO, and European Union programs. The most emblematic is his work on ESMERALDA and MAIA projects for the European Commission, as well as the ongoing SELINA, INES, TransWild, and Restore4Life.

Prof. Stoyan Nedkov was the supervisor of two successfully defended and realized Ph.D. students in "Cartography and GIS" and "Physical Geography and Landscape Science". He is currently the supervisor of one full-time and two part-time PhD students.

He gave lectures in Cartography and GIS, Landscape Science, and Landscape Ecology at Sofia University "St. Klimenti Ohridski" and the "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" University of Veliko Tarnovo. He developed 3 courses for Ph.D. students at the Center for Education of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences:
- "Introduction to GIS and work with ArcGIS";
- "Spatial analysis and assessment of ecosystem services using GIS-based tools";
- "Practical skills for developing a scientific article".

Stoyan Nedkov is a member of the Ecosystem Services Partnership, coordinator of the National Geographical Committee of Bulgaria, the national ecosystem services group of Bulgaria and the regional chapter of ESP for South East Europe.

Prof. Nedkov has been Chair of the Management Board of the BGS in two consecutive terms - the temporary one during the restoration of the Society, and the first regular one in the period 2014-2018. Since 2022 he is the Vice Chair.
From autumn 2018 he was the Editor-in-Chief of the re-established Journal of the Bulgarian Geographical Society, and from the beginning of 2021 he became Deputy Editor-in-Chief due to the transformation of the journal from national to international one and the enrollment of Prof. John Pickles (USA) as the new Editor-in-Chief.

Prof. Nedkov has extensive experience in the scholarly publication process as an author, reviewer and editor of scientific articles in renowned international publishers, and international organizations. He is a Subject Editor of the One Ecosystem journal. He was editor of the journal PLOS One and the IPBES assessment on scenarios and models (2016). Prof. Nedkov has peer-reviewed articles for several journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.

Stoyan has made a contribution to the quality development of our journal from a national to an one by:
- authoring 8️⃣scientific papers;
- reviewing more than 2️⃣0️⃣manuscripts;
- handling and editing more than 3️⃣0️⃣papers.

He was the lead author of 2️⃣editorial papers that marked the transformation process of the journal from to one:
