On June 20th and 21st, 2026, the Dutch Cycling Embassy travelled to Bucharest, Romania to participate in the annual New Urban Habits (nUH) Festival.

Taking place at the Mihai Eminescu Amphitheatre, nUH brought together communities, experts, creators, institutions and families in an open format built around the questions that shape urban life. The 2026 edition consisted of UrbanTalks, roundtables, hands-on workshops, exhibitions, film screenings and artistic interventions.

Over the weekend, International Relations Manager Chris Bruntlett had the privilege of sharing some lessons on urban transformation through a talk titled ‘The Dutch Blueprint for Urban Vitality’ and a mobile workshop, ‘Rethinking Bucharest Streets Through Dutch Design Principles.’

Along with planners, advocates, students and residents, they explored the city by bike, examining how network thinking, safer intersections, traffic circulation, speed management, and bike-train integration can create a mobility system that works for everyone.

PowerShelter just launched their open-access battery swapping network in Berlin. This means delivery riders can swap an empty battery for a fully charged one, any time of day, without carrying spares or going home to charge.

The project features collaboration with various mobility operators and paves the way for rollout of these systems in different cities.

The City of Amsterdam (Gemeente Amsterdam) has raised the free parking limit from 24 hours to 7 days. This makes cycling easier, more affordable and more convenient.

The new 7-day limit applies at: Beursplein, Leidseplein, Ceintuurbaan, Ferdinand Bol, Reguliers, Rokin and Station Noord.

Fight bike theft and get rewarded for it?

Our partner BIKEBAZE has launched a new reward program for its community. Users can earn points by scanning bikes, reporting suspicious registrations, and helping owners find registered stolen bikes. These points can be used for products in the platform, such as SafeTag stickers, with more rewards and discounts coming soon. A smart way to make bike registration more active, visible, and community-driven.
