That is why we work on transformative gender equality and women’s human rights in interconnection with climate justice.

Verónica Luna leads Fundación Plurales in Argentina, driving socio-environmental action through the Plurales Socio-Environmental Fund.

Her work focuses on defending human rights and strengthening collective organising, with a strong emphasis on the “Gender and Territory” programme and the “Environmental Defenders” initiative, empowering women who are protecting land, life, and communities. 💚

For her, climate justice is not just policy, it is people, territory, and the power of women organising for change.

Growing up in Bolivia, Tatiana Mijaela Quiroga witnessed how Indigenous women’s leadership and ancestral wisdom were too often marginalised, while the sacred Pachamama faced growing threats. Instead of accepting this reality, Tatiana chose a path of resilience, action, and hope. ✨🌍

Today, the GJCS awardee 2025 works to bridge ancestral knowledge with scientific innovation, showing that Indigenous women are not only protectors of their communities, but visionary leaders shaping a more just and sustainable future. 💚

Her work is a powerful reminder that climate justice begins by listening to those who have protected the Earth for generations.

We stand in solidarity with our LGBTIQ+ and feminist allies and partners in Turkey. The blocking of websites and social media, raids on homes and offices, seizure of equipment, and scrutiny of foreign funding are deeply alarming. Receiving international funding for legitimate civil society work does not make an organisation an agent of a foreign power. Framing it this way is part of a dangerous pattern that paves the way for further repression and puts all of civil society at risk.

Turkey is currently preparing for COP31 in Antalya. In this context, we call on governments, UN actors, and all decision-makers who are in contact with Turkish authorities as part of the climate negotiations to openly condemn the repression and the shrinking space for civil society.

Born in the midst of conflict, Patricia Kasoki is a young Congolese activist driving change for social and environmental justice. ✊🏾🌍

She has dedicated her work to amplifying voices too often unheard: rural women, local communities, and Indigenous peoples across the Congo Basin.

As co-founder of Jambo Radio in the DRC, Patricia uses media, advocacy, and grassroots organizing to challenge inequality and fight for land rights, dignity, and justice. 💚

Last year, she received the Gender Just Climate Solutions Award, recognising her powerful commitment to community-led climate justice and inspiring even more action for the future.

When systems are rooted in colonial and patriarchal thinking, climate justice must also mean changing the rules. 🌍✊🏾

Awardee of the Gender Just Climate Solutions Award in 2018, Dorothée Marie Lisenga and her project CFLEDD have helped drive groundbreaking change across eight provinces in the Democratic Republic of Congo, supporting new land and forest laws that allow women to become landowners.

What started as a vision in 2016 has grown into a movement: training 480 women, advocating for women's rights to land and forest and breaking barriers that once excluded women from climate action. 💚

Youth engagement is one of the key focus areas of our Imagining Climate Just Futures project 🌍

Last month, that took us to Folkemødet, Denmark’s iconic “People’s Meeting” on the island of Bornholm 🇩🇰
3 of our young colleagues and interns were able to take part in panels, workshops and conversations on climate justice, and to connect with activists and changemakers from across Europe.
From discussions on supply chains and Gaza to sessions on how young people’s voices are heard in policymaking, it was a valuable few days of exchange and learning.

Experiences like these help shape the next generation of feminist climate advocates. 🌱
