🌿mari bi - a new source of prosperity tapped by the Falwel community
In a partnership between Kula and Potentiel Terre, the women cooperative AMANA has launched village venture in Falwel in Niger 🇳🇬 , by processing local crops. With a community chest that holds a revolving fund, consisting of their own savings as well as some foreign capital, the investment in their village venture was made.
The guiding principle? Receipts are systematically reinvested to finance new production cycles, ensuring the building of long-term financial autonomy without external dependence.
🏗️ Moving Toward Industrializing a Local Spice production
The production unit is now semi-mechanized, featuring: ✅ A milling unit and a dehulling machine (a local first!). ✅ A storage warehouse, a standardized kitchen, and a processing facility. ✅ A structured labor organization to ensure continuous production.
📈 Concrete Results in Just 4 Months activities
65 bags of sorrel processed and sold - generating a profit. ✅ some funds allocated in livestock fattening loans to 20 women retailers, creating the first marketing circuit connecting residents. ✅ some funds invested in AMANA members and local youth workers loans.
🌍 Community Impact Beyond Expectations
More than just numbers, this project is a shared abundance factory : 👥 46 direct jobs created (41 women and 5 outh): 21 processors, 20 local retailers, and 5 youths workers. ⚡ Labor relief: A significant reduction in exhausting manual labor for 10 villages. The machines now allow for the automated dehulling of millet, maize, and sorghum, radically easing the daily lives of local women. 📍 09 new villages impacted: The host village and 9 surrounding communities of AMANA. 🌱 Agricultural transformation: Sorrel is no longer just a subsistence crop; it has become a high-potential cash crop for the future.
🤝 This could not have happened without the government for the institutional support and tax exemptions.
This could not have happened without the intention from the start to rust the community, and to share our abundances with these communities in need of inclusion.
