In het kader van Refugee Week Film Festival 2026 vertonen we 'A World Not Ours' van Mahdi Fleifel: een intiem portret van drie generaties ballingschap in het Palestijnse vluchtelingenkamp Ein el-Helweh in Zuid-Libanon. Aan de hand van persoonlijke opnames, familiearchieven en historisch beeldmateriaal verkent de film thema’s als thuisgevoel, familie, herinnering en ontheemding.

As part of Refugee Week Film Festival 2026, we will be screening 'A World Not Ours' by Mahdi Fleifel — an intimate portrait of three generations of exile in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ein el-Helweh in southern Lebanon. 🌈 We hebben goed nieuws: het Q***r Project van De Voorkamer wordt weer actiever!

Dankzij nieuwe subsidie van de Gemeente Utrecht breiden we ons programma uit met meer activiteiten door en voor de q***r community in Utrecht. Met een focus op q***r migranten en vluchtelingen werken we aan een Traveling Q***r Hub — een samenwerkend netwerk dat LGBTQIA+ organisaties, events en plekken in de stad met elkaar verbindt.

Het programma bestaat uit community diners, creatieve workshops, sportactiviteiten en nog veel meer. Om de veiligheid en privacy van communityleden te beschermen, worden de meeste activiteiten niet openbaar gedeeld, maar via gesloten communitykanalen gecommuniceerd.

💜 Nu we ons q***r programma verder uitbreiden, zoeken we ook vrijwilligers om te helpen bij het organiseren en faciliteren van activiteiten – van planning en coördinatie tot koken en het creëren van een gastvrije ruimte.

🌈 We have exciting news: De Voorkamer’s Q***r Project is becoming more active!

Thanks to new funding from the Municipality of Utrecht Gemeente Utrecht, we are currently expanding our programme with more activities by and for the q***r community in Utrecht. With a focus on q***r migrants and refugees, we are developing a Traveling Q***r Hub — a collaborative network connecting LGBTQIA+ organisations, events, and spaces in the city.

The programme includes community dinners, creative workshops, sports activities, and much more. For the safety and privacy of community members, most activities will not be publicly shared but communicated through closed community channels instead.

💜 As we expand our q***r programme, we are also looking for volunteers to help organise and facilitate activities – from planning and coordination to cooking and creating a welcoming space.

Doe mee aan een bijzondere reeks borduurworkshops onder begeleiding van kunstenaar Handan Tufan. Aan de hand van gevonden zwart-witfoto’s uit Nederland gebruiken we draad, textiel en verbeelding om samen nieuwe verhalen en betekenissen te creëren.

Via borduren, gesprekken en creativiteit verkennen we thema’s als herinnering, migratie en persoonlijke geschiedenis, terwijl we oude beelden nieuw leven inblazen.

Join us for a special series of embroidery workshops led by artist Handan Tufan. Working with found black-and-white photographs from the Netherlands, we will use thread, textile, and imagination to create new stories and meanings together.

Met het zonnige weer en alle kleuren die weer buiten verschijnen, vonden we het tijd voor een frisse lente-makeover bij De Voorkamer 🌸

Met veel enthousiasme delen we onze nieuwe visuele identiteit, ontworpen door onze geliefde designer Jana. De nieuwe huisstijl is geïnspireerd door de diversiteit, creativiteit en warmte van de communities die van De Voorkamer maken wat het vandaag is.

De Voorkamer is een plek waar culturen elkaar ontmoeten — waar mensen samenkomen om verhalen, passies, tradities en talenten met elkaar te delen. Onze nieuwe stijl weerspiegelt de speelse, zorgzame en creatieve energie van onze community en helpt ons om nog beter te laten zien wie we zijn en wat we doen.
