Pinay sa Holland- GABRIELA finds the recent announcement of former spokesperson Harry Roque in seeking asylum in The Netherlands RIDICULOUS. This is another MEDIA STUNT to subvert the true issue of his GROSS ABUSE OF POWER and PUBLIC TRUST while he was the OFFICIAL SPOKESPERSON of RODRIGO DUTERTE WHILE HE WAS PRESIDENT.

This move not only undermines the struggles of the Filipino people but also represents a betrayal of the very principles of accountability and justice that are desperately needed in our country.

As a public official, Roque was a PURVEYOR OF LIES, advocating policies that demonized the voices of civil society and human rights advocates. His decision to flee the Philippines rather than confront the
consequences of his actions and the policies he supported, reflects his hypocrisy and acknowledges the bias of the justice system in the Philippines for those who are rich and powerful. This DRAMA that he continues to perform as lead actor is an insult to the intelligence of millions of ordinary Filipinos who continue to face systemic injustices, human rights violations, and are continuing to fight for genuine change in our country.

The Filipino people are grappling with poverty —landlessness, joblessness and profound lack of opportunities for building a life with dignity for our families in our own country. This is the reason why we are among the migrant workers’ communities making a living here in the Netherlands. The situation in the Philippines demands genuine leadership that is centered on national development for Filipinos, especially the poor and powerless among us, with a commitment to social justice.

Roque's asylum-seeking is an act of cowardice that only serves to further highlight the disconnect between the ruling elite and the marginalized sectors of Filipino society.

We call on the international community to scrutinize Roque's actions and to recognize the plight of those who have been directly affected by the policies he continues to defend. His attempt to evade justice must not be allowed to prosper.

Pinay sa Holland- GABRIELA stands firm in our commitment to fight for the rights of women, workers, and all marginalized sectors in the Philippines. We will not be silenced by those who seek to escape their crimes. We demand justice, accountability, and a genuine commitment to our welfare as Filipinos.

ON THIS INTERNATIONAL WORKING WOMEN'S DAY!
Unite, Defend and Fight for Working and Oppressed Women’s Rights!
IWA Global Statement

The International Women's Alliance (IWA) celebrates International Working Women's Day as an important day to uplift women's struggles for equality and emancipation; and contributions to struggles for national liberation, and revolutionary change. The first International Working Women's Day was celebrated in 1911, in honor of women from Germany who marched in 1848 to demand their rights. In 1913 Russian women led strikes against WWI and Fascism and 4 years later the calls of Russian women textile workers for "Bread and Peace" contributed significantly to the fall of the Tsar and paved the way for the October Revolution. In 1921 March 8 was reaffirmed as International Working Women's Day to honor women's pivotal role in the Russian Revolution, and in workers struggles all over the world. IWA Salutes the women around the world who continue to agitate, organize, and mobilize one another and recognizes the significant role women are playing in the fight against fascism, US imperialism, and all reaction.

As more grassroots organizations form and seek to organize women in their numbers, more campaigns and fights are being waged all over the globe. IWA members all over the world are mobilizing in militant actions, facilitating teach ins, conducting film screenings and carrying out demonstrations which emphasize the burning issues the majority of women are facing. March 8 is just one day of action for many of our member organizations who are organizing year round to expose and oppose state neglect, repression, exploitation and oppression of women.

We bring forth the historic legacy of International Working Women's Day and call upon all working and oppressed women and peoples across the world to turn fear into fight and to boldly grow the militant women’s movement! To the women who continue to struggle to provide for their families and communities, garner the strength from the long line of women who continued the revolutionary traditions of March 8th. Look to your left and find inspiration from the women all over the world who are involved in different forms of struggle at the picket lines, street demonstrations, and in the countrysides engaged in people’s war for liberation!

Unite, Defend and Fight for Working and Oppressed Women’s Rights!

Preserve in the struggle against imperialism and all its reaction!

Long live the militant women’s movement!

Duterte's Arrest and the Pursuit of Justice! A Pivotal Step Towards Accountability for Crimes Against Humanity! ✊🇵🇭

Statement from the International Women's Alliance

🔗 Full statement: https://www.internationalwomensalliance.org/en/statements/dutertes-arrest-and-the-pursuit-of-justice

On March 11, a warrant was issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity related to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s “war on drugs”. This arrest is a historic victory for the Filipino people in their years of clamor to demand justice and accountability for these heinous crimes which unjustly targeted urban poor communities, youth and students. The International Women’s Alliance stands with the thousands of victims and their families who have been crying out for justice for the more than 30,000 drug-related killings during Duterte’s 6-year reign of terror from 2016-2022.

Duterte’s crimes against humanity and other human rights violations extend beyond his so called “drug war”. He is also guilty of ordering extrajudicial killings (EJK’s) and the massacre of hundreds of activists, red tagging, state terrorism, and other crimes that have continued under the current President Bongbong Marcos Jr.

The US government has been complicit in the violations of human rights in the Philippines through its massive military aid support. Trump himself congratulated Duterte for addressing the drug problem in the Philippines, when a leaked transcript of a conversation between the two world leaders went public in 2017. In 2018, the Philippine government received $193.5M and the amount continues to grow now under Marcos Jr.

Abuses and crimes committed by state forces continue to run rampant under the Marcos regime, currently receiving an estimated $336M. The deeply entrenched culture of impunity, which Duterte exploited to unleash his bloody war on drugs and ruthless campaign of suppression, continues as not a single military or police officer has been held accountable, tried or punished for these crimes against the people.

This International Migrants Day, let’s call to and achieve justice for all victims of human trafficking!

Migrante International, the International Migrants Alliance - IMA, and the Save the Life of Mary Jane Veloso Task Force are all eager to give Mary Jane Veloso a warm homecoming to the Philippines on December 18. As we celebrate this victory of Mary Jane Veloso and the unity of migrants and peoples around the world, we remain committed to keep fighting for Mary Jane’s clemency and justice.

On December 18, we will make our stand against human trafficking, labor exploitation, and forced migration. We call on migrants around the world to stand with the Global Day of Action for Mary Jane Veloso and all victims of human trafficking. Following 14 long and painful years of separation, we call on Marcos to let Mary Jane finally spend Christmas at home with her loved ones.

Let every corner of the world hear our united call for justice and dignity for every migrant, every Mary Jane. Join the Global Day of Action!

CALL TO SUPPORT MARY JANE VELOSO’S FAMILY: WELCOME HER HOME AT THE AIRPORT THIS DECEMBER 18

Migrante International urges all members, OFWs and their families, and supporters of Mary Jane Veloso to unite in solidarity and amplify her family’s wish to welcome her home upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday, December 18.

After spending 14 years in an Indonesian prison, Mary Jane’s return marks the culmination of years of struggle and hope for justice. According to the government of Indonesia, her flight from Jakarta is scheduled to depart at 12:50 a.m. and arrive in the Philippines around 6:00 a.m. However, the family’s opportunity to reunite with her at NAIA remains uncertain.

We call on authorities to grant Mary Jane’s family, legal counsel, and supporters the chance to welcome her home with open arms at the airport, rather than transferring her directly to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong. This is a crucial step in demonstrating compassion for Veloso’s plight and acknowledging her victimization that led to her imprisonment in the first place.

Here’s how you can help:

📣 1. Share messages of solidarity on your social media platforms

📣 2. Amplify the following calls:
ALLOW VELOSO FAMILY TO GREET MARY JANE AT AIRPORT!
FULL AND ABSOLUTE CLEMENCY FOR MARY JANE VELOSO!
JUSTICE FOR ALL VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING!

📣 3. Sign and invite others to sign our petition: change.org/clemency4maryjane

Topic: A Thousand Voices: Building Solidarity with the Filipino Children

Despite various proclamations by the Philippine government and local laws protecting children, the current situation in the Philippines is still dangerous for them. A majority of children come from the most vulnerable sectors of society, and are victims of poverty, lack of access to education, and the effects of state violence in their communities.

In time for the Children’s Month commemorated in the Philippines, this webinar will tackle the current situation of the Filipino children, highlighting the impacts of human rights and international humanitarian law violations. It will feature resource speakers from the and .

This webinar will also serve as the launch of a year-long solidarity campaign by the , a member organization of the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines.
