📊 Strong policies need strong evidence.

The European Social Enterprise Monitor (ESEM) provides one of the most important sources of data on social enterprises across Europe, helping policymakers, ecosystem builders, researchers, and practitioners better understand how the sector is evolving and where support is needed most.

By participating in the ESEM survey, you contribute to a stronger evidence base for the social economy, enabling national and European stakeholders to track developments, identify trends, and compare progress across countries. These insights help shape more effective policies, strengthen support ecosystems, and increase recognition of the vital role social enterprises play in addressing social and environmental challenges.

🗣️ Your experience matters. Help us build a clearer picture of the social enterprise landscape across Europe.

We are proud to announce that we have signed the Madrid Declaration for Stronger Recognition and Funding of Social Innovation in the EU Multiannual Financial Framework 2028–2034.

Adopted on 5 May 2026 in Madrid, the Declaration represents a joint call from 17 National Competence Centres for Social Innovation and 67 ecosystem actors across 19 European countries. Together, we are calling on the European Commission, Member States, and MFF negotiators to:

→ Recognise social innovation as a transversal delivery approach
→ Ensure visible funding pathways within the National and Regional Partnership Plans
→ Preserve dedicated ESF+ support for social innovation experimentation and scaling
→ Integrate social innovation into competitiveness, research, and innovation instruments
→ Strengthen National Competence Centres and the wider ecosystem infrastructure

The next EU budget cycle is a defining moment. The challenges Europe faces right now, from green and digital transitions to democratic resilience and social inclusion, cannot be solved by standard instruments alone. Social innovation is the practical capability that bridges ambition and delivery and will strengthen our democratic resilience as a country.

We stand behind this call and we invite others to join.

✨ Spotlight on Impact: Lise Pape

As part of our series celebrating women driving change across innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact, we highlight leaders who are transforming lived experience into meaningful solutions that improve everyday lives.

🌍 Meet Lise Pape: Founder of Walk With Path

💡 In 2014, Lise founded Walk With Path, inspired by her academic work and her personal experience with Parkinson’s disease in her family. The company launched its first product, Path Finder, in 2017 — a visual cueing shoe attachment designed to support people living with Parkinson’s. A second innovation, Path Feel, a haptic feedback insole to improve balance and monitor gait, is currently launching.

At the heart of Lise’s work is a deep commitment to improving quality of life through accessible, wearable technologies that integrate seamlessly into daily routines. Her products address mobility challenges holistically, recognising their impact not only on physical movement but also on mental health and wellbeing.

✨ Her work is a powerful reminder that inclusive innovation begins with lived experience and that designing for real human needs can transform both systems and lives.

Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight more inspiring women leading the way in social innovation.

Social enterprises play a crucial role in building a more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient economy but stronger visibility, better policymaking, and more informed investment decisions depend on robust data and evidence.

That is why the ESEM survey is so important.

By contributing to the survey, you help strengthen understanding of the social enterprise model and support the development of policies, funding opportunities, and ecosystem support mechanisms that enable the sector to grow and create greater impact aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

📢 Your voice matters - take part in the ESEM survey and help shape the future of the social economy ecosystem.

Last week, Euclid Network joined consortium partners at the Impact Intel Project Steering Committee, a key moment as the project moves into its second year, co-funded by the European Commission.

Year one built the foundations. The consortium completed all planned research and market intelligence activities, reaching out to 100+ stakeholders across the European impact investing ecosystem, and developed the first Impact Intel concept prototype. Euclid Network led communications throughout - launching the project's public presence and hosting a dedicated Impact Intel session at the EN Impact Summit in Amsterdam, bringing together practitioners, researchers and consultants from across the European social finance ecosystem to shape the platform's direction.

Year two is where the platform itself takes shape. Development is underway, the business model is being defined, and the governance framework that will carry Impact Intel beyond the grant period is being built. We'll keep you updated as it develops. 🌍

🇸🇮 How can traditional SMEs transition toward more impact-oriented and sustainable business models while remaining competitive?

The Program 100i – 100 Impact Ventures in Slovenia is helping companies rethink innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship through an impact-driven lens.

Led by Fund2740 - high impact foundation with support from the Slovenian Enterprise Fund, the initiative supports SMEs in:

✔️ developing impact-oriented business models
✔️ improving access to impact investment opportunities
✔️ strengthening innovation and competitiveness
✔️ reducing risks of greenwashing and impact washing
✔️ building stronger relationships with communities and stakeholders

One of the most interesting findings so far: many SMEs no longer see impact as just a CSR topic, but as a strategic tool for resilience, long-term positioning, and market relevance.

As Europe continues advancing sustainability and impact economy policies, initiatives like Program 100i demonstrate how mainstream SMEs can successfully integrate purpose and competitiveness.
