✨ Spotlight on Impact: Güler Altınsoy

As part of our series celebrating the inspiring women who participated in the Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise AI Training, we are proud to highlight leaders who are working to make entrepreneurship more inclusive, accessible, and impactful around the world.

Meet Güler Altınsoy, Co-Founder of İhtiyaç Haritası and IDEMA – International Development Management, and Partner at ETKİ GSYF

💡 Bringing people together to meet community needs, Güler co-founded Needs Map, an online platform connecting people in need with individuals and organisations willing to support them. By combining technology with collective action, the platform offers an innovative approach to sharing, volunteering and creating social value.

🌍 Turning digital connections into tangible impact, Needs Map has attracted more than 3.4 million visitors and facilitated social aid worth the equivalent of over $10 million. As Turkey’s first online social cooperative, it demonstrates how technology can strengthen solidarity and connect communities with the resources they need.

🚀 Güler also co-founded IDEMA, which focuses on international development management. Through this initiative, she supports innovative approaches to sustainable development and social enterprise.

💜 Her experience also spans international development and cross-sector collaboration, having worked with organisations including The World Bank Group, United Nations Development Programme - UNDP , UNFPA and Save the Children International , as well as private-sector partners on corporate social responsibility initiatives. Across her work, Güler demonstrates how collaboration, technology and social entrepreneurship can help turn shared needs into collective solutions.

💡 How can social innovation education move beyond theory and become truly practical, applied, and competence-based?

One of the ESIC pilots, implemented by Platform for Social Change, offers an example.

👥 32 participants took part in a learning journey focused on social innovation and social entrepreneurship, moving step by step from identifying challenges in their communities to developing and testing social enterprise ideas. The programme provided participants with learning resources and training that moved beyond theory, engaging in a process grounded in experimentation, teamwork, and reflection.

This pilot illustrates why the ESIC Competence Framework and the Skills Monitor matter. It shows that social innovation competences are best developed through practice and that improving education in this field requires a better understanding of which competences are needed, how they are changing, and how they can be strengthened through real learning experiences.

🔍 How can impact intelligence increase visibility for organisations creating real change?

In this new interview from the Impact Intel series, Vlada Semkina, Junior Consultant in the Non-Profit Sector at Sinloc, explores one of today's biggest challenges: helping impact-driven organisations stand out in an increasingly complex funding landscape.

Not all impact happens on a project timeline.

For Jessamine Davis of Social Entrepreneurship Netzwerk Deutschland one of the lessons for support organisations is the importance of finding long-term funding partners who believe in the structural work happening between the big moments.

Because ecosystem building doesn't always produce an immediate, visible result.

It can mean:

🌱 building relationships
📣 advocating for policy change
🤝 convening stakeholders
🧠 developing knowledge
🔗 strengthening networks
️🔨 creating the infrastructure that allows others to thrive

This work is continuous and it needs funding models that recognise that.

The question for the social economy isn't only “What project will create impact?”

It is also:

“What infrastructure needs sustained support for impact to become possible?”

That's the conversation we want to continue through SESO Connect.

“Competitiveness cannot be measured by short-term profits and a pursuit of this idea of competitiveness will do nothing but undermine Europe’s resilience and strategic autonomy.”

🇪🇺 The next EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework will determine what kind of economy Europe chooses to build. And if we want to move towards a more autonomous, competitive, and resilient Europe, prioritising the social economy will be key.

People, planet, profit: Social economy actors strengthen Europe with their holistic approach to economic success, considering societal benefit and environmental sustainability as key factors to achieve long-lasting impact. The next MFF needs to reflect this.

Euclid Network’s members therefore agree that the next MFF should:
🌱 Emphasise long-term investments into business solutions that prioritise people and planet over short-term, unsustainable and ultimately counterproductive returns
📈 Recognise the capacity of social enterprises to respond to and deliver on Europe’s priorities
🗣️ Meaningfully include representatives of the social economy and enterprise ecosystems in decision making processes on EU funds.

What happens when the organisations representing the social economy don't have enough financial independence to represent it?

For Jessamine Davis, Policy Co-Lead at Social Entrepreneurship Netzwerk Deutschland, financial independence is not simply an organisational sustainability issue.

It is also about the ability to represent members openly and effectively.

SESOs often sit at the intersection of communities, policymakers, funders and other ecosystem actors. Their role requires them to listen to their members, understand their needs and advocate for change.

That makes the sustainability of the support organisation itself part of the wider ecosystem question.

🌱 If we want thriving social enterprises, we also need to invest in the organisations that represent, connect and support them.

🇪🇺 Resilience, autonomy and competitiveness are at the heart of the European Union’s priorities. But to future proof Europe’s economy, a mere focus on short-term profits is not enough.

Euclid Network’s members agree: The EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework must weave the social economy into its fabric. Social economy actors strengthen Europe with their holistic approach to economic success that considers societal benefit and environmental sustainability as key factors to achieve long-lasting impact. Therefore, funding must be directed towards them.

Concretely, the next MFF must
🌱 Emphasise long-term investments into business solutions that prioritise people and planet over short-term, unsustainable and ultimately counterproductive returns
