Gender Concerns International is a Dutch-based NGO supporting and promoting women's rights internationally, particularly in the MENA-region, Asia and Africa. GCI's core business is capacity building, lobbying and advocacy work. The organisation also facilitates training and support to civil society and women's networks, especially in fragile states, to improve the political, legal, social and econ

Today marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).

FGM remains a violation of fundamental human rights and a form of gender-based violence affecting millions of women and girls worldwide. Ending harmful practices such as FGM is essential to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality and upholding international commitments under frameworks including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.

Addressing FGM is not only a development issue — it is fundamentally a matter of political accountability, legal commitment, and sustained policy engagement.
