Youth Peace Initiative

Youth Peace Initiative Youth Peace Initiative (YPI) has been set up to get young adults from regions in conflict involved with the peace process.

To accomplish this YPI organizes conferences to build trust, stimulate negotiations between groups, and find a common ground. “We, youth of the world's regions in conflict, have come to The Hague to put our differences behind us and pursue a better future. We remember the past, but choose not to remain captive to it. Instead, we seek to move past the mistakes of previous generations and to achieve peace together.“

A Goodbye Message

Dear YPI Network,

After many meaningful years of youth‑led peacebuilding, the Youth Peace Initiative is coming to an end. As we close this chapter, we want to take a moment to honor what has been built, the people who made it possible, and the impact that will continue far beyond our organization.

Throughout our journey, we had the privilege of working with more than thousand young peacebuilders from across the world. Their dedication, creativity, and courage shaped everything YPI stood for. Together, we celebrated four editions of the Youth Carnegie Peace Prize and hosted four editions of the Young Leadership Experience—programs that highlighted the power of youth leadership and created space for young changemakers to grow, connect, and lead.

None of this would have been possible without the partners who believed in our mission and walked alongside us. We are deeply grateful to UNOY, the Carnegie Foundation, the Humanity Hub, and the many other organizations and individuals who supported, collaborated, and shared their expertise with us over the years. Your trust and partnership helped YPI thrive and amplified the voices of young peacebuilders worldwide.

Although YPI as an organization is concluding, the spirit of youth‑driven peacebuilding continues in the work of the incredible people we’ve had the honor to meet and support. We leave with gratitude, pride, and confidence in the next generation of peace leaders.

Thank you for the years of collaboration, inspiration, and shared commitment to a more peaceful world. We wish everyone in our community strength and success as they continue this important work.

Last Friday, YPI celebrated its 10th birthday in the presence of old, as well as new friends.🎊We were very happy to welcome various organizations and speakers to look back on some of the key moments over the past decade, with a specific focus on the Youth Carnegie Peace Prize and Israel-Palestine efforts.

During this event, former YCPP finalists, .world and Prabhu Dayal Kasere Charitable Trust , highlighted the importance of youth in peacebuilding with some concrete and tangible results, and reflected on the way that international organizations like YPI can enforce their work and strengthen their message. Moreover, shared some fresh perspectives and recommendations of Dutch engagements in the Israel-Palestine conflict, and on the role of meaningful youth engagement. Last but not least, shared their latest campaign.

To end this inspiring evening, exchange on youth participation was continued informally, over some celebratory drinks!🥂🎉

We thank everyone for supporting YPI and being there to celebrate and share experiences and insights! We hope to see you all very soon in continue our conversations and joint efforts for peace.😊

Hello YPI network!
In the year 2024 the Youth Peace Initiative (YPI) has been celebrating its 10 years of existence as a youth-led NGO.
As the year is slowly coming to an end, we would like to re-connect with you and warmly invite all of our former members, partners, and collaborators based in The Hague, to join us for an informal afterwork on Friday 22nd November 2024 (17.30-19.30) at The Hague Humanity Hub, to celebrate with us and raise a glass together with the wider YPI network.
The program will include a short presentation of our organization’s achievements since 2014, and there will be complimentary drinks and snacks, so the current YPI board really looks forward to seeing you there! 😊
