💬 Beyond the livestream, online participants will also have the opportunity to join the interactive discussion “When Libraries Bring Citizens Together for a Sustainable World” (13:30–14:30 CEST).

The discussion will explore how libraries can engage citizens, foster community participation and contribute to a more sustainable future.

📚📑 International Peer Learning Cycle 2026: Libraries, Democracy and European Values -- presentations available! 📑📚

On 6–7 October, more than 25 participants from 15 countries met in Portugal for two days of exchange, practical learning and discussion on the topic of democracy and libraries. The second and final session of the International Peer Learning Cycle explored how libraries can strengthen democracy, promote European values and encourage active citizenship.

The European Literacy Coalition has been officially launched!

🤝 The Coalition is a multi-stakeholder network working on strengthening cooperation to promote literacy and reading in Europe. It is an initiative of the European Commission as part of its Union of Skills strategy and Action Plan on Basic Skills, and gathers 40 stakeholders -- one of which is EBLIDA.

In “Powering Library Change: What ELAN Teaches Us about Networks, Capacity and Impact,” Andrew Cranfield (EBLIDA), Helene Voldner (Norwegian Library Association) and Jessica Jacobs (Flemish Association for Libraries, Archives and Documentation) will share different perspectives on what the European Library Associations Network (ELAN) can mean for library associations.

From recognising shared challenges and turning policy into advocacy to exchanging expertise and collaborating around common priorities, the session will explore how networks can become a practical force for change.
