🌟 𝐖𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄 🌟
(Revisiting Loren Eiseley's Star Launcher)

As I strolled at dawn along a deserted beach, absorbed in my own concerns, I spotted a little girl in the distance, repeatedly leaning and throwing something into the sea, as she walked along the endless expanse of sand in front of me.

As I got closer, I realized she was picking up and returning to the ocean the starfish that the tide had left stranded in the sand as it retreated.
When I got close enough, I asked her why she was so diligently indulging in this unusual task.

She told me the rising sun would dry the stranded starfish and they would die.
Impulsively, I told her I found it useless: there were thousands of starfish along miles and miles of beach.

A single person could not make a difference.

She smiled as she picked up the starfish one by one.
Taking one and throwing it away between the waves, she exclaimed: "For this it makes a difference!".

I gave up everything I was thinking and doing and spent the morning returning starfish to the sea.

It was a morning that changed me, a morning that reminded me that even when I feel small, even when the world seems too big, I can still make a difference.
And now, when I feel overwhelmed, I remember her smile and the way each starfish made its own little defiant splash against the vastness of the Ocean.

Tiny, secret ripples, whispered by the wind.
One more mark of Love Supreme.

Just as the celestial bodies maintain a harmonious orbit around the sun, we too must find balance between our inner world and the external environment.
The treasures at the periphery, at the Aphelion, are vast and alluring, but to truly benefit from exploring these riches, we must remain tethered to our center.

The Aphelion symbolizes the aspirations, the pinnacle, the ultimate realization of potential.

Life constantly places us in situations that threaten to unbalance us, and if we're not firmly attached to our core, we risk falling.
Falling can mean living in a state of disorder, uncertainty, conflict, and illness—an endless succession of ailments—because we've severed our connection with the essential, with the unity of all that is permanent.

Therefore, let us hold fast to the core within us, for it is this center that unites, assembles, and explains everything.

It is perfectly possible to reach out from it to the periphery.
As we continue to renew our bonds with the center, we build a strong internal anchor, and once we're firmly bound to this anchor—or, to use a different analogy, once we've put down strong roots—we can safely venture towards the periphery, attempt to fulfil the unexpressed potential.

Stichting Aphelion is honored to establish a partnership with 𝗡𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲ñ𝗼𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘀 (𝗡𝗣𝗛) 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮, specifically within the framework of the 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁.

NPH, whose name means "Our Little Brothers and Sisters," is a charitable organization that has provided a home for thousands of orphaned and abandoned children since 1954.

This crucial project is dedicated to the memory of Anna Giannotti, who volunteered in Parramos, Guatemala, in 2010 and later passed away. We uphold her legacy by selecting and partially funding dedicated volunteers for this mission.

Our mission is to support special leaders and projects focused on fundamental children's rights in low-income countries. By supporting NPH Guatemala in Parramos, we aim to be a 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 for the children there.

Adversity often reveals true leadership. Our heroic partner, Bishnu Gautam, founded Laxmi Pratisthan (LP) after enduring the unbearable grief of losing two sons, channeling that pain into energy dedicated to profound social service in Nepal.

This act of transforming unbearable personal loss into social mission exemplifies the strength of an Aphelion Hero.

Stichting Aphelion proudly supports leaders like Bishnu Gautam, investing in their exemplary motivation and ability to turn kindness into real, transformative change.

Our deep collaboration in Nepal focuses intensely on self-reliance and community upliftment:
• We fueled economic self-reliance by providing vocational training and sewing machines for 40 underprivileged women, helping them establish independent livelihoods.
• We supplied essential emergency support and coordination to local leaders following the devastating 2015 earthquake.
• We continue to nourish children, such as those in remote Kanda village, through initiatives like Aphelion Food for Children Day.

LP's work showcases that even the darkest loss can ignite the brightest commitment to the community.

In Loving Memory of Scott MacLennan

It is with a heavy heart that Stichting Aphelion shares the news of the passing of a dear fellow, collaborator, and true champion for Nepal, Scott MacLennan, who passed away peacefully on May 25th, surrounded by his family.

Our connection with Scott began in the early days of Stichting Aphelion. After our first batch of projects supporting Bishnu Gautam and Laxmi Pratisthan in Nepal, our chairman Leo Giannotti wrote an article for a magazine Bishnu was issuing, explaining the vision behind our work. That article caught the attention of Scott, a resident of New Mexico, USA, who was married to a wonderful Nepali woman, Sunita.

Scott reached out, and a deep, lasting bond was formed. He ran his own foundation, doing incredible work in remote mountain communities—work so impactful that he was awarded the prestigious Sir Edmund Hillary Mountain Legacy Medal in 2010.

One of his most beautiful legacies is Her Farm in Nepal, a sanctuary and working farm he established to provide a safe haven, land to cultivate, and a bright future for women and children in difficult circumstances. Later, Scott channeled his passion into photography and podcasting, training local youth in journalism and digital storytelling.

Though at a distance, our shared mission connected us deeply. When our chairman Leo Giannotti visited Nepal in 2013 and Scott happened to be in the USA, he generously offered his mountain car to Bishnu so we could reach Hattidap and the children’s community Aphelion supported. Years later, when the devastating earthquake hit Nepal in April 2015, Scott was one of the four trustworthy leaders Aphelion partnered with to directly deploy relief funds where they were needed most.

We were bound by mutual respect and a shared love for the people of Nepal. He was a man of immense action, generosity, and heart.

On behalf of Stichting Aphelion, we extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to his wife Sunita, his children, and his entire family.

Rest in peace, Scott.

Your legacy lives on in the mountains, the communities you transformed, and the lives you touched. 🏔️✨

• In Nepal, we provided 𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 to 40 underprivileged women, fostering economic self-reliance.
• We supported young people in remote villages with 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 for economic sustainability.
• We champion arts education, supporting heroes like Teresa Satalino, who guides the AYSO Orchestra and OrchestrAcademy, empowering young Italian musicians toward 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 and advocating for 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 for unity and empowerment.
