Over the past two days, , and hosted the first edition of the Next Gen: The Hague Security Conference at the Peace Palace and Leiden University’s Wijnhaven Campus. In addition to Jonge Atlantici / Young Atlantic Association’ chair Lotte van den Boom opening the conference alongside former NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, and moderating a Q&A with Prime Minister Rob Jetten, we co-organised the panel discussion: ‘Climate Policy Amidst Geopolitical Uncertainty’. Led by journalist and former UN Youth Representative Hajar Yagkoubi, Anthony Agotha (Ambassador at large, Special Envoy for Climate and Environment Diplomacy, European External Action Service), Irina Patrahau (Chair, Energy Security and Critical Minerals programmes, HCSS) and Michael Collins (Director, Low-Carbon Energy Research at Energy Intelligence) discussed Europe’s climate agenda, the energy transition and the link to security.
Board member Victor Niekrake moderated a Q&A with documentary filmmaker Guy Lagache about his new documentary ‘La Guerre, Donald Trump et nous’ at Flora Filmtheater. A unique insight into the diplomatic efforts of French President Macron and his team regarding Ukraine.
Many thanks to the conference organisers for two wonderful days full of opportunities to make the voice of the next generation heard!
