Erasmus Days are about more than going abroad. They’re about the experiences, people and opportunities that help us grow.

Moving to another country, choosing a university, adapting to a new culture or taking your first steps into the job market — these experiences can be exciting, but they also come with questions and unexpected challenges.

That’s why we created the MVIdee Mentorship Programme for international students in the Netherlands: to make space for honest conversations, shared experiences and practical advice from people who have been there themselves.

🎧 Our podcast is part of that journey. Through conversations with graduates and professionals, we explore what studying and building a life abroad really looks like — from adapting to a new country to finding your place in the workplace.

What happens when young people get the tools to make a difference in their communities?

ecosocial_voices is about connecting environmental sustainability with civic participation. Through civic monitoring and social innovation, we’re exploring how young people can identify local challenges, understand how decisions shape their communities and contribute to meaningful change.

What if air pollution could become ink?

Graviky Labs developed AIR-INK, a way to capture soot from emissions, process it and turn it into ink and pigments.

The idea started with a simple question: what if something we treat as waste could become a creative resource?

AIR-INK has been used by artists for illustrations, murals and more. It doesn’t solve air pollution, but it challenges us to look at waste differently.

Sometimes, innovation starts with seeing a familiar problem in a new way.

What else could we transform if we saw waste as a resource?

🇳🇱Wat als luchtvervuiling inkt zou kunnen worden?

Graviky Labs ontwikkelde AIR-INK: een manier om roet uit uitstoot op te vangen, te verwerken en om te zetten in inkt en pigmenten.

Het idee begon met een eenvoudige vraag: wat als iets wat we als afval beschouwen, een creatieve grondstof kan worden?

Kunstenaars gebruiken AIR-INK voor illustraties, muurschilderingen en meer. Het lost luchtvervuiling niet op, maar daagt ons uit om anders naar afval te kijken.

Innovatie begint soms met een bekend probleem vanuit een nieuw perspectief bekijken.

Wat zouden we nog meer kunnen transformeren als we afval als grondstof zien?

What happens when you stop talking about youth participation and start exploring how it works?

That was part of the experience at the GENLINK Residential Lab in Lithuania, where young people from five countries came together for five days of workshops, dialogue and creative exchange.

From democratic engagement and intergenerational dialogue to Civic Café methods and youth-led media, the programme explored different ways to bring people into conversations that matter.

And not every insight comes from a workshop. Sometimes, it comes from hearing a perspective you hadn’t considered, comparing experiences or realising that the same challenge looks different depending on where you come from.

That’s what international exchange can offer: not one ready-made answer, but more ways to ask questions, share ideas and take part.

🇳🇱 Wat gebeurt er als je jongerenparticipatie niet alleen bespreekt, maar ook onderzoekt hoe het in de praktijk werkt?

Dat was een onderdeel van de GENLINK Residential Lab in Litouwen, waar jongeren uit vijf landen vijf dagen lang samenkwamen voor workshops, dialoog en creatieve uitwisseling.

Van democratische betrokkenheid en intergenerationele dialoog tot Civic Café-methoden en mediaproductie door jongeren: het programma verkende verschillende manieren om mensen te betrekken bij gesprekken die ertoe doen.

En niet elk inzicht ontstaat tijdens een workshop. Soms ontstaat het wanneer je een perspectief hoort waar je nog niet aan had gedacht, ervaringen vergelijkt of ontdekt dat dezelfde uitdaging er anders uitziet afhankelijk van waar je vandaan komt.

Dat is de kracht van internationale uitwisseling: niet één kant-en-klaar antwoord, maar meer manieren om vragen te stellen, ideeën te delen en mee te doen.

Rainy October days are here. But how do we navigate the information we find online?

From 24–31 October, we mark Global Media and Information Literacy Week, highlighting the importance of thinking critically about the content we consume every day.

Through the CARE project, we explore how educators can help learners recognise misinformation, question what they see online and strengthen their digital literacy.

Because not everything that looks convincing is reliable. Sometimes, the most important digital skill is knowing when to stop scrolling and start asking questions.

🇳🇱 De regenachtige oktoberdagen zijn aangebroken. Maar hoe gaan we om met de informatie die we online tegenkomen?

Van 24 tot en met 31 oktober is het Global Media and Information Literacy Week. Deze week benadrukt hoe belangrijk het is om kritisch na te denken over de content die we dagelijks tegenkomen.

Binnen het CARE-project onderzoeken we hoe docenten leerlingen kunnen helpen om desinformatie te herkennen, online informatie kritisch te beoordelen en hun digitale vaardigheden te versterken.

Want niet alles wat overtuigend lijkt, is betrouwbaar. Soms is de belangrijkste digitale vaardigheid weten wanneer je stopt met scrollen en vragen begint te stellen.

Good ideas grow when we share them.

A few weeks ago, Elizabeth joined an Erasmus event in the Netherlands, where participants exchanged experiences, shared insights and discussed opportunities for future collaboration.

Through working sessions and conversations, the event created space to learn from one another and explore what we can do next.

Now, as we celebrate Erasmus Days 2026, we’re looking back at these moments that make European cooperation meaningful — bringing people together, connecting ideas and opening doors to new possibilities.

🇳🇱 Goede ideeën groeien wanneer we ervaringen delen.

Een paar weken geleden nam Elizabeth deel aan een Erasmus-evenement in Nederland. Deelnemers wisselden ervaringen en inzichten uit en bespraken mogelijkheden voor toekomstige samenwerking.

Tijdens werksessies en gesprekken was er ruimte om van elkaar te leren en samen vooruit te kijken.

Nu we Erasmus Days 2026 vieren, blikken we terug op momenten die Europese samenwerking waardevol maken: mensen samenbrengen, ideeën verbinden en ruimte creëren voor nieuwe mogelijkheden.

The Week of Safety has come to an end, and we’re reflecting on our own steps towards making online spaces safer for everyone.

From 6–9 October, UNITY Project CERV partners met in Setúbal, Portugal, to explore how we can challenge intolerance and build safer, more inclusive communities.

Through workshops on online hate speech and hate crime, advocacy, and Words Matter — focusing on hate speech and discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people — participants exchanged perspectives and explored ways to turn awareness into action.

As this week reminded us, creating a safer society takes more than recognising violence. It takes listening, standing up against discrimination and supporting one another.

Because unity isn’t just a shared value. It’s something we build through our actions.

🇳🇱 De Week van de Veiligheid is voorbij en we blikken terug op de stappen die we zelf kunnen zetten om online omgevingen veiliger te maken voor iedereen.

Van 6 tot en met 9 oktober kwamen de UNITY-partners samen in Setúbal, Portugal, om te onderzoeken hoe we intolerantie kunnen tegengaan en veiligere, inclusievere gemeenschappen kunnen opbouwen.

Tijdens workshops over online hate speech en hate crime, advocacy en Words Matter — over hate speech en discriminatie van LGBTQIA+-personen — wisselden deelnemers perspectieven uit en verkenden ze manieren om bewustwording om te zetten in actie.

Deze week herinnerde ons eraan dat een veiligere samenleving meer vraagt dan het herkennen van geweld. Het vraagt om te luisteren, discriminatie tegen te gaan en elkaar te steunen.

Want eenheid is niet alleen een gedeelde waarde. We bouwen eraan door wat we doen.

Yesterday, the UNITY Project CERV LTTA in Setúbal brought participants together to explore hate speech and hate crime among young people, particularly in social media and online environments.

Today, we’re taking the conversation further — with a focus on advocacy against hate speech and hate crime and Words Matter, exploring hate speech and discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people.

Different perspectives, difficult conversations and practical ways to turn awareness into action.

Gisteren kwamen deelnemers tijdens de UNITY Project CERV LTTA in Setúbal samen om hate speech en hate crime onder jongeren te bespreken, met bijzondere aandacht voor sociale media en online omgevingen.

Vandaag gaan we een stap verder — met aandacht voor advocacy tegen hate speech en hate crime en Words Matter, over hate speech en discriminatie van LGBTQIA+ personen.

Verschillende perspectieven, moeilijke gesprekken en praktische manieren om bewustwording om te zetten in actie.

What happens when you put your ideas into practice?

This summer, Beyond the Screen brought educators and trainers together for a series of interactive webinars — and, importantly, to test what we’ve been developing.

Participants tried the self-assessment tool, reflected on their experiences with online teaching and explored storytelling formats designed to make online learning more engaging.

The sessions also showed us where things work, where they need adapting and what we hadn’t thought about yet.

Because developing a tool doesn’t end when you build it.
You have to put it in people’s hands.

🇳🇱 Wat gebeurt er wanneer je ideeën in de praktijk brengt?

Deze zomer bracht Beyond the Screen docenten en trainers samen tijdens een reeks interactieve webinars — en vooral om te testen wat we aan het ontwikkelen zijn.

Deelnemers testten de self-assessment tool, reflecteerden op hun ervaringen met online lesgeven en verkenden storytellingformats om online leren meer betrokken te maken.

De sessies lieten ook zien wat werkt, wat aangepast moet worden en waar we zelf nog niet aan hadden gedacht.

Want een tool ontwikkelen stopt niet wanneer je hem hebt gebouwd.
Je moet hem in handen geven van de mensen die hem gaan gebruiken.
