MINE MARK is an explosive ordnance risk education project which aims to protect children and vulnerable groups from the danger of landmines and unexploded ordnance of war. Our mission is to reduce the number of casualties from explosive remnants of war by providing explosive ordnance risk education for youths. By working together with local authorities and NGOs, we implement inclusive and sustainable projects which increase local populations’ awareness about mine risk. Our approach is play-based learning which seeks to educate children about a serious topic in engaging and interactive formats. We provide educational materials that create awareness and games that reinforce these learnings and influence behavior towards the risks posed by explosive remnants in a positive manner.

The PFM-1 "butterfly mine" has little wings so it can be scattered from the air, but the shape and bright colour make it look like a toy, leading children to pick them up. It's a chilling reminder of why risk education that speaks a child's language isn't optional. Kids need to know what danger actually looks like.

🌅 Today, 12 July, the world marks International Day of Hope — a day the United Nations dedicated to hope as a force for peace, dignity, and a better future.

At Mine Mark, hope isn’t abstract. It looks like a child who recognizes a landmine and walks the other way. It looks like a schoolyard that’s safe to play in again. It looks like communities slowly reclaiming land that conflict once made lethal.

Every risk education session we run, every game and cartoon we make, and every partner who joins us creates hope for a safer future for the next generation.

On this Day of Hope, join us in believing that not a single child becomes a victim of remnants of war!

At Mine Mark, we are continuously working to raise awareness about our mission and impact. Today, our co-founder Nils Hegel, M.Sc. had the opportunity to discuss the challenge of landmine-contamination and their impacts on children and youngsters in current or past conflict areas. Many thanks for the invitation to Andreas Nöthen and to the students of the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences - Campus Frankfurt, which were deeply involved and provided many awesome ideas on how to improve our MineMarkGame.

The Mine Mark Game is available in Arabic, and we are looking to expand its impact further.
We’re currently seeking partners in Arabic-speaking countries to help implement the game locally. If you are involved in education, training, and see value in interactive learning experiences, we would be glad to collaborate.
Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in exploring partnership opportunities.

Project completed in Iraq! 🇮🇶
We’re proud to share that our educational cartoons and activities reached 918 children across 20 primary schools in Basra and Missan governorates in Iraq.
Through engaging risk education sessions, each child received a brochure and life-saving awareness messages, helping them recognize and avoid explosive hazards in their communities. Thank you to our partner AMACC for making it possible! hashtag
