In Ghana, Ropah Fashion is combining fashion production with vocational training to create new opportunities for young people.

In collaboration with PUM expert Lise Bossink, the training centre is moving from learning mainly through customer orders towards a structured, competency-based curriculum. Together, they developed new learning modules and trained teachers in practical skills and teaching methods. The collaboration also draws on expertise from ROC van Twente in the Netherlands.

📚 3 modules developed
👩‍🏫 20 teachers trained
📈 65% more students in 2026
🎓 52 expected graduates benefitting this year

Through continued remote advice, Lise is now working with Ropah Fashion on the further development of its three-year curriculum.

By investing in better vocational education, Ropah Fashion is preparing young people for careers in fashion while contributing to a stronger textile sector in Ghana.

In Western Kenya, Moo & More Dairy Farm combines dairy farming with training and local impact.

The female-owned farm, led by Susan Njuguna, works with around 25 smallholder farmers, creates local jobs and regularly welcomes students for practical training.

In collaboration with PUM expert Wytze Heidema, the team worked on better feeding, cow comfort and herd management. The project also brought together neighbouring farmers, students and local organisations to share knowledge and improve dairy farming in the region.

Moo & More now wants to grow further as a practical training centre where farmers and students can learn by doing.

A great story of how practical expertise and local collaboration can strengthen the dairy sector.

In collaboration with PUM expert Willem de Mol, the woman-led company transformed scattered financial data into practical management tools that support better decision-making and long-term resilience.

The project strengthened financial planning, improved cost awareness and created a clear roadmap for future growth. As a result, SH Confection is better positioned to safeguard more than 70 jobs, most of them held by women, while reinforcing its role in Tunisia's textile sector.

What happens when entrepreneurial ambition meets practical expertise? 🌱

At Phú Nông Buôn Đôn Cooperative in Vietnam, PUM expert Harry Jonker MA worked alongside Director Trần Văn Toàn and the cooperative's management team to turn a strong vision into a practical strategic business plan for sustainable growth.

Together, they discovered that the cooperative's greatest asset isn't just its agricultural products, it's the authentic experiences that connect visitors with local people, culture and nature. As Harry Jonker puts it: "The biggest opportunity wasn't to create something new, but to unlock the value that was already there."

By building on its unique strengths, the cooperative now has a clear roadmap to create greater value for its members, visitors and the wider community.

This is what PUM is all about: sharing knowledge that empowers ambitious entrepreneurs to build a structurally better future. Read the full story online: https://www.pum.nl/project/turning-ambition-into-a-practical-strategic-business-plan-in-vietnam/

For more than 25 years, onion seed producer Bikram Singh has been supplying quality seeds and sharing cultivation knowledge with around 300 farmers across Punjab. Now, in collaboration with PUM expert Chris Kik, he is taking the next step in strengthening his business.

Together, they reviewed the entire production chain, identifying practical opportunities to further improve seed quality, storage, crop monitoring and market positioning. These improvements will not only strengthen the company's future growth but also contribute to more reliable onion production for the farmers it serves.

The impact goes beyond agriculture. With a predominantly female workforce and a strong focus on knowledge sharing, the company continues to create opportunities for local communities.

What started as a 10-acre pilot project in Morogoro is growing into a scalable agribusiness model that helps young people and women build sustainable farming businesses.
Through a collaboration between SUGECO and PUM, aspiring farmer-entrepreneurs gain access to land, training and business support, enabling them to manage agriculture as a professional, market-oriented enterprise.

📈 Results so far:

• 10 acres successfully cultivated
• 5 young farmers managing their own plots
• 36-month business models developed for participants
• 100 acres identified for phased expansion

With support from PUM expert Tjaart Hofman, SUGECO strengthened its business planning, financial models and farming practices, creating a solid foundation for future growth. A successful first harvest of capsicum and tomatoes has already demonstrated the potential of the approach.

By turning agriculture into a viable business opportunity, SUGECO is helping build a more prosperous future for young entrepreneurs in Tanzania.🌱
