Rotaract is de club voor jongeren tussen de 18 en de 30 jaar werkend of studeren die zich actief willen inzetten voor de maatschappij en daarbij hun grenzen willen verleggen. Enerzijds betekent dit dat goede doelen in binnen- en buitenland worden ondersteund. Vaak zijn deze doelen groepen mensen die het minder getroffen hebben en die een steuntje in de rug kunnen gebruiken. Anderzijds zijn de lede

n van Rotaract ook een goed doel op zichzelf; door het organiseren en volgen van trainingen, workshops en projecten doen Rotaracters ervaring op en zijn er veel leermomenten. Rotaract wordt gevormd door de leden, die allen lid zijn van een lokale Rotaract Club. De leden van Rotaract zijn mannen en vrouwen tussen de 18 en 30 jaar oud; studerend of werkend. Een Rotaracter is ambitieus, enthousiast, sociaal betrokken, heeft een brede interesse en een internationale blik. Rotaract is een wereldwijde organisatie met ruim 176.000 leden, verdeeld over 156 landen. Zo'n beetje elke grotere plaats in Nederland heeft een Rotaract Club. Rotaract Nederland telt ongeveer 50 clubs en meer dan 500 leden. De Rotaract Clubs komen vaak eens in de twee weken bij elkaar om projecten te organiseren. Daarnaast is er tijd voor gezelligheid de clubs wonen elkaars borrels, feesten, gala's en andere activiteiten bij. Behalve de tweewekelijkse vergadering/borrel op woensdag in Pavlov (aan het Spui in Den Haag) gaan we af en toe happen of stappen in Den Haag of bezoeken we een landelijke activiteit. Soms gaan we in RAC-verband over de landsgrenzen heen, zoals het bezoek aan een managementgame in Jordanië een internationaal weekend in Praag en het gala in België. Last but not least hebben we natuurlijk ook nog het befaamde Clubweekend, een jaarlijks terugkerend succes.

This year marks the 5th edition of our beloved Sinterklaas project, and we’re excited to continue spreading warmth and kindness to families who need it most.

Every year, Rotaract Scheveningen, together with Rotary Clubs Residentie and Kijkduin, brings gifts and a little joy to young parents and children who had to leave home due to domestic violence. These families live in safe shelters, often far from everything familiar, but with your help, we can remind them that they are not forgotten.

Last year, thanks to your donations and support, we raised €578 and delivered gifts to 30 young mothers, 5 young fathers, and 34 children. This year, we hope to reach even more families.

📣 Wrapping Up the Rotaract Year with Purpose & Gratitude! 💙✨
As the Rotaract year (July 2024 – June 2025) comes to a close, we’re celebrating two incredible moments that captured the heart of who we are 💫

🕊️ Youth Peace Summit – The Hague
What an inspiring way to end the year! After months of planning, we helped bring the Youth Peace Summit to life. Two days of learning, sharing, and connecting with changemakers from around the world. Together, with around 90 other people we wrote a powerful Manifesto for Peace—a true testament to youth leadership and hope for a better world 🌍💬

🍽️ Year-End Dinner & Celebration
We closed our year with gratitude, good vibes, and even better company! Members were gifted a special club keychain as a thank-you for their dedication, and received SDG pins from in recognition of their role in promoting sustainable development 🌱🎁

🙏 A massive THANK YOU to everyone who supported us throughout the year—every moment of service, every voice, every hand mattered.

🎉 Award Alert: Sew to Flow Wins Best Social Project! 🎉

We’re beyond proud to announce that Sew to Flow has been named Best Social Project during the General Assembly of Rotaract Nederland — and received a €250 prize! 🙌💥

A huge shoutout to our very own Warsha Somai, General Board Member, for passionately pitching the project! 💬👏

🩸 Sew to Flow is all about menstrual hygiene, awareness, and empowerment.

Together with Rotaract Club UDS (Ghana), Rotary Club Scheveningen, and other local partners, we:
✨ Trained 55 girls to sew reusable sanitary pads
✨ Educated 100+ students on menstrual health

🌍 This project supports Rotary’s focus on health, hygiene, and community development — creating real impact, locally and globally.

🌍✈️ Meet Dunja Hippe: Flight Attendant with a Heart for Service 💙

Hi all! I’m Dunja Hippe, 26 years old and currently living in Voorburg after moving five times in the past six years. I originally grew up in the beautiful province of Overijssel, but now I’ve landed (pun intended 😄) in a place that feels like home!

In daily life, I travel the world as a flight attendant, exploring new destinations and cultures from the sky. When I’m not up in the air, I love going to the gym, playing pool (even if I lose most of the time 😅), going for evening walks on the beach, playing board games, and spending quality time with my friends and family. 🏖️🎱🎲

I’ve been a proud member of Rotaract Den Haag Scheveningen for about a year now and am part of the Local Committee, where we focus on smaller, hands-on community projects. One project I really enjoyed was organizing a present collection in The Hague’s city center. The gifts were donated to children spending the holidays outside of their own homes due to domestic violence 💝. Another memorable project was helping renovate a home for a woman with mental health challenges—painting, hanging curtains, and installing lamps to make her space feel safe and warm again. 🛠️🖌️

I joined Rotaract because I love meeting new people and making a tangible impact on society. What makes Rotaract unique is its strong national and international network, full of fun events and inspiring guest speakers. Our club is incredibly diverse in lifestyle, nationality, and background—which means every meeting brings new insights and makes the social events extra fun! 🌍🤝

My favorite Rotary area of focus is water, sanitation and hygiene. These are basic human rights, and while we are fortunate in the Netherlands, many people around the world still lack access. I truly believe there’s a lot we can do to help.

And to anyone thinking about becoming a volunteer: JUST DO IT! Even the smallest act of kindness can make a life-changing difference to someone else. You’ll feel better about yourself and gain so much more than you give. 💫

Earlier this spring we went to the city farm Molenweide, in the Hague, to help them with cleaning, painting, planting and preparing the place for the upcoming summer season.
