Coaching skills for educators were discussed by Sarah Khamis, assistant professor in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy education researcher from Yemen, at the 84th FIP world congress in Montreal last month.

With information and artificial intelligence tools now available everywhere, she highlighted that the real challenge for educators is helping students build a strong professional identity. Coaching encourages reflection, which helps students understand themselves, take ownership of their learning and grow in both their professional and personal lives.

The 73rd session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO RC73) held in Cairo this week brought together regional stakeholders to discuss key health priorities and challenges. FIP was represented by FIP vice president Nadia Al Mazrouei, FIP Eastern Mediterranean Region Pharmaceutical Forum president Wael Ali and Ebtehal Elsayed.

The world already produces enough food to nourish everyone, yet around 645 million people continue to face hunger, and 2.69 billion people cannot afford a healthy diet. Innovation across agrifood systems, from new technologies and better data to traditional knowledge and stronger partnerships, can help ensure reliable access to affordable, nutritious food for all. Pharmacists have an important role to play in this, from supporting healthy nutrition choices to helping prevent and manage non-communicable diseases (NCDs) linked to poor diets.
