World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD) is held on the first Thursday of every November. This year the event will highlight the importance of digital heritage and encourage action to protect the records, research, memories and cultural assets that shape our communities.
Get involved by hosting an event, sharing a blog or social media post, showcasing your work or contributing a creative response that helps demonstrate why preserving the digital stories matters.

The surprise guest in our garden last week – a baby seagull. We quickly named him Tortoise. Don’t ask why, it just worked at that moment 😊

It’s now that time of year when baby seagulls are learning to fly and occasionally… land in people’s gardens.

We made sure he wasn’t injured, gave him some water and a swimming pool (it was a hot day!), and, following advice from the dierenambulance, guided him to the street, where his parents quickly showed up.

We can’t see him anywhere around today. Guessing he’s already at the beach, learning how to steal fries from beachgoers.

The ICA Early Career Professionals Provisional Section (ECaPS) is pleased to announce the webinar titled Documented Absence: Rethinking Provenance and Gaps in AI-Ready Archival Infrastructure.

This webinar examines a core epistemic problem in applying AI to archival and manuscript collections: most systems treat what is missing from the record as simply absent, rather than as evidence in its own right.
