Instytut Pileckiego invites you to the next seminar in our post-conference series, led by Karolina Bykrczy. The seminar takes place on Thursday, August 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. CEST.

This time, the topic will be Communism and Ethnic Minorities.

The seminar will focus on the complex relationship between communist regimes and ethnic minorities. The starting point for our discussion will be built upon Karolina's previous educational workshops on "Communism and Ethnic Minorities" as well as the insightful research and works of Dr Jerzy Rohoziński.

Together, we are going to look into the historical context, examining how state policies shaped minority experiences and exploring the multi-layered aspects of this heritage. The presentation will be followed by an interactive discussion session.

Interested in taking part in the EuroClio Regranting Scheme?

This year, you can apply for two types of Grants:

- Cooperation Grants: This support to EuroClio Full Member organisations based in the European Union is given to facilitate member-to-member activities. In total, 6 cooperation grants will be awarded as a lump sum of 6.000 €.

- Dissemination Grants: This support to EuroClio Full Member organisations based in the European Union is given to either work with EuroClio to create educational resources from an already selected pool (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EhgdMfMSJXpVHBvkFoPO1K_2wcYKQOJN/view), ready to use in their context, or to join the train-the-trainer event taking place in The Hague from October 23 to 24. Applicants must specify which of the two activities they wish to participate in. In total, 4 financial support grants will be awarded as lump-sum payments of 3.000 €.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until September 30, 2026, or until all Grants have been awarded. All activities should be finalised by 30 November 2026. Board Member Juraj Varga joins EuroClio founder Joke van der Leeuw Roord to trace his path between Slovakia and Czechia in shaping teacher training across Central Europe. He reflects on how EuroClio's 2017 seminar in Utrecht changed his trajectory and the contrasting pace of history education reform in Czechia versus Slovakia. The conversation turns to Slovakia's new competence-based curriculum and the values he believes history education must instil in a turbulent political moment.

Are you an educator looking for new materials and pedagogies to bring to the classroom? Are you interested in delving into the history of Northeast Asia and Korea with your students? EuroClio is delighted to invite you to our next train-the-trainer on September 19, 2026, in collaboration with the Northeast Asia History Foundation and the Museum of Japanese Colonial History.

The training will take place at the Museum of Japanese Colonial History from 09.00 to 17.00. But most of the event can be joined online, so if you are based outside of Seoul but are interested in the training, join us!

The workshop will encompass a series of plenary sessions focused on showcasing the work EuroClio has done in the history of Northeast Asia and Korea to date, and will be accompanied by a series of more hands-on workshops to explore the materials developed in past years. These workshops will focus on inquiry-based pedagogies based on the use of primary resources in the classroom and an adaptation of the Thinking Routines from Project Zero.

Please note that the working language of the training will be English.

This conference marks the conclusion of the Creative Europe project: Preserving the Past, Securing the Future (PPSF), which has explored how World War II remembrance sites and museums can integrate sustainability into their daily practice and long-term strategies.

The programme will bring together heritage professionals, museum practitioners, tourism experts, researchers and policymakers from across Europe to explore topics including environmental sustainability, heritage management, tourism, policy and cooperation. Alongside inspiring speakers and discussions, the conference offers an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and build new partnerships across the sector.
Whether you work in heritage, remembrance, tourism, museums, education or public policy, we hope the conference will provide valuable insights and inspiration for your own work.

We spent four days at the Social Hackathon Umbria ( ) now in its 10th edition, held alongside a Peace Village where teams co-created solutions around peace with oneself, with the Earth, and among peoples.

SENSEI brought a workshop built around our Puzzles of Empathy game: because inclusion isn't a warm feeling, it's a set of decisions that build a mindset and this game makes you practice making them.

Prosperity built through difference rather than despite it is easy to write into a proposal. In Cascia, for four days, it was actually lived.

We are excited to announce the programme for EuroClio's international symposium, Teaching Migration: Exploring Histories of Migration In and Beyond the Classroom, taking place on 25 September 2026 at the Wereldmuseum, Rotterdam. This event will bring together educators, researchers, and heritage professionals to explore how the histories of migration can be taught meaningfully in and outside the classroom. Historian Brent Geerts (KU Leuven) joins the Past Times podcast to unpack his PhD research on how museums like the Africa Museum in Tervuren, Belgium and Belgium's Royal Military Museum shape the way students engage with colonial history. Geerts discusses the "emotional affective approach" to museum learning, the tension teachers feel between staying neutral and taking a stance, and why classroom visits to colonial heritage sites echo and complicate the emotional weight of history education.

The Network of Concerned Historians has released its 32nd Annual Report documenting the censorship of history and the persecution of historians, archivists, and archaeologists worldwide in 2025–2026.

Drawing on human rights organisations and other sources, this report sheds light on the ongoing struggle to protect historical truth and those who preserve it.
