Director-General Dallafior visited the OPCW Situation Centre, the operational hub that supports inspectors before and throughout their deployments and maintains secure connectivity between field teams and Headquarters.

The Programme brings together participants from around the world to strengthen national implementation of the and promote the peaceful uses of chemistry.

A warm welcome to Mekondjo Kaapanda-Girnus, the OPCW's new Deputy Director-General.

As the Director-General's principal deputy and most senior adviser, the Deputy Director-General helps ensure the OPCW operates effectively on a day-to-day basis and that the Organisation's strategic priorities are translated into action across the Technical Secretariat.

Deputy Director-General Kaapanda-Girnus brings extensive experience in diplomacy, international law, and multilateral affairs. Prior to joining the OPCW she served as Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the European Union, and as Namibia's Permanent Representative to the OPCW.

We wish Deputy Director-General Kaapanda-Girnus every success in her new role!

Today, we welcome Sabrina Dallafior as the new Director-General of the OPCW.

On her first day, Director-General Dallafior shared: "Walking through the doors of the OPCW as Director-General for the first time was a reminder that this Organisation's greatest strength is its people. I am inspired by the dedication and professionalism of the Technical Secretariat and excited to begin listening, learning and working together to build on the OPCW’s achievements."
