CAET Summer 2026 Issue Now Published Online
Volume 12, Issue 1 | Summer 2026

We are pleased to announce the publication of the Summer 2026 issue of Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (CAET).

Bringing together scholars and practitioners from across Asia, the Middle East, and North America, this international and interdisciplinary collection explores how artistic engagement can cultivate human capacities essential to contemporary life—including creativity, empathy, reflection, relational awareness, cultural understanding, resilience, and the ability to navigate complexity.

Across education, creative arts therapies, arts in health, clinical supervision, community practice, digital environments, and intercultural exchange, the contributions illuminate an emerging ecology of transformation: one in which embodied experience becomes a way of knowing, relationships become spaces of inquiry, communities become sites of shared meaning-making, and artistic practice contributes to learning, healing, and human development.

The issue features research and scholarly contributions spanning movement, drama, dance, visual arts, expressive therapies, arts-based supervision, digital artistic practice, intercultural pedagogy, and international dialogue in arts and health.

As CAET continues to develop as an international and interdisciplinary journal, this issue reflects its commitment to bringing diverse cultural perspectives, artistic traditions, research approaches, and professional voices into meaningful dialogue.

This global webinar, part of the IACAET Arts & Health Series and co-sponsored by First Aid of the Soul (FAS), explores the role of the arts in fostering healing, resilience, and social reconstruction during times of war and collective trauma. As part of FAS’s broader initiative to advance arts and health in Ukraine, the webinar examines how creative practices support individual and community well-being amid ongoing conflict.

At the center of the discussion is the work of First Aid of the Soul (FAS), a trauma-informed creative psychosocial organization operating across Ukraine. Through supervision groups, expressive arts workshops, community circles, and somatic interventions, FAS demonstrates how artistic practice can serve as a form of first aid for the soul, helping restore dignity, strengthen relational trust, preserve cultural identity, and foster resilience in the face of profound disruption.

We're pleased to announce the May webinar!

Centering perspectives from Southern Africa, the conversation foregrounds epistemologies and practices historically marginalized within dominant Western paradigms. At the heart of this webinar is decolonization, not as metaphor, but as an ethical, political, and epistemological reorientation of the field.
Southern African philosophical traditions, including the ethic of Ubuntu invite us to understand personhood as emergent through relationship: umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu (a person is a person through other persons). Within arts therapy training and community arts praxis in the region, these principles are enacted through circle processes, call-and-response structures, embodied witnessing, ritual, and aesthetic co-creation. Healing is understood not solely as individual clinical intervention, but as restoration of relational balance among body, spirit, community, land, and ancestral presence.
