Stichting Afropeans seeks to facilitate the integration, visibility and participation of Europeans of African origins into the Dutch society in particular and in Europe in general. The longer we live in Europe the more a new culture develops that is a rich mixture of the European and African cultures. The Stichting Afropeans Freedom Dinner 2026, held on 5 May in Alphen aan den Rijn, drew more than 80 attendees and exceeded all expectations. A team of five Antillean volunteer chefs prepared a diverse buffet, including the traditional Vrijheidssoep.

The event strongly reflected the organisation’s mission to build bridges between people of African heritage and other cultures, bringing together guests from over 25 nationalities.

Two speakers, including a local council member, shared personal reflections on freedom, sparking meaningful multilingual conversations at every table.

The success of the evening was largely due to the dedication of volunteers who cooked, decorated, supported and cleaned, as well as the exceptional commitment of the community centre staff.

We're all set for the Freedom Dinner on 5 May! The soup, conversation starters, and placemats from are ready to go. Our chefs are prepping a delicious meal, guest speakers are finalizing their talks, and all seats are filled.
