We’re very happy to announce that we’ll be part of the Maastricht Jaar 2026 City Parade on 13 September!

You can find us at Henric van Veldekeplein, where we’ll be hosting an open stage with poetry performances by Maarten van den Berg, Shari da Tòs and Rick Ruliaman.

This will take place at 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00.

Later in the day, we’ll join the parade with a very special poetic object — but we’ll keep that a surprise for now.

The event is completely free and no registration is required.

We hope to see you on 13 September from 14:00 onwards at Henric van Veldekeplein in Maastricht!

Here to welcome you and put you at ease before we engage with poetry: Henrik Hörtner is coming with music at the start of the night!

Emerged from the swiss mountains this classically trained guitarist is finding his way back to his roots; singer-songwriting.

Combining his observation with his knowledge of the guitar, he tries to tell stories that tickle your neurons.

Besides teaching and finishing his master, Henrik Hörtner is also part of a group called Miraflor. They are currently working on an album, trying to mix Classical Music with other genres

Surely, you don’t want to miss Tink.

Tink (they/them) is le***an, artist, and scholar. Their family tree is rooted in the heritage of the Ruhrgebiet. They grew from the firm shoulders of coal miners and underground electricians, of punks, drunks, and rockers.

For their studies they came to Maastricht. They have studied psychology, neuroscience, and empirical research methods. However, their heart will always belong to feminist, crip, and decolonial philosophy and art.

Weaving meanings into wordy rhythms is a somewhat new endevor to Tink. Their poetic process - a method for self revelation that is still strange to them. Each poem comes to them like a struck of lightning and stays as a stimming spell, demanding compulsive recitation.

The next poet we want to introduce, has been helping us out at our events lately. We are very happy to have Konstanty Wilczynski in our line up!

“Born in Poland, raised in Luxembourg, Konstanty is no stranger to life’s dualities. A student of Business Analytics and professional in the Investment Fund industry, he uses poetry, writing and art in all its forms as an outlet for connecting to life’s spirtual facets, often lost in a grounded, quotidian life.

Through writing about hope, despair, joy and self-theraputic motifs, he often uses nature, art and tangibles as analogies or metaphors for feelings, reflections and musings, that prose often fails to convey.”

The next poet we want to introduce is no stranger, but a familiar face at our events. We love to introduce to you Joseph Hoffman!

Joseph lives in Maastricht with his whimsical, wise, and wonderful wife, Lizzie, and their two cats, Clue and Finnley.

He is a patchwork person, knitted together from different places, identities, communities, and influences. Born in New Mexico, he grew up between Colorado, Kansas, and a rural town in the Oklahoma Panhandle, where he played basketball, lived on a farm, raised sheep, listened to metal, and was definitely an emo kid. His life and work have since taken him to Bangladesh, Colorado, Afghanistan, and eventually to Maastricht, which he now calls home.

Joseph is a founding member and student pastor at Thuis, a home away from home for university students, and a university chaplain at The InnBetween Student Chaplaincy. Much of his work revolves around creating spaces of belonging, spirituality, creativity, and connection where people can be seen, known, and loved as they are. He believes that connection, art, creativity, and vulnerability can help us heal, find hope, and imagine a more caring world together.

He has had a love-hate relationship with writing and the arts for most of his life, but recently found his way into poetry and spoken word after attending a creative writing workshop led by Cristiana from Puss Poetry.

His writing explores spirituality, hope, belonging, identity, mental health, social change, and peace. Through writing and performing, Joseph hopes to invite people to find beauty in unexpected places, and to make room for their own difficult questions and experiences, discovering that even in the darkness, there are still reasons to hope.

The other poet in our line up is a familiar face. If not from a few editions ago than from helping us out as a volunteer.

We love to introduce to you Carlo Civitarese

Carlo and his ghostwriter D’Artagnan.

Darty is back and ready for more. After a year of incessant scribbling, he is ready to pour out his soul for your listening pleasure. His writing more than ever visceral and mature, the whiskered wizard’s depth of reflection knows no bounds. Come hear at your own peril, for you may leave a different person than what you were.
